Have any of you ever had a dream in which you could smell things within it that are not present outside the dream? Food, decay, flowers, anything? Tell me about it please.

I thought that was usual, like tasting things in your dream that you're not really eating.

I've smelled all kinds of stuff, even things I didn't know had a particular "smell"; like death or music.

Sometimes, but I wouldn't call those dreams.

What is a dream in your definition?

a dream by my definition is the sometimes vivid and intense images that pass through your mind as you sleep. By the way, the reason I asked here is because out of three friends, only one has told me he can smell things in his dreams. The others said they never have.

:hello: GatekeeperCrow ... Welcome Welcome Welcome ...

Thanks for joining us and sharing ... if i've not welcome you already!

No ... i don't remember any particular scents in dreams.

Is one who can smell scents in dreams ... better or worse off ... than one who cannot?

    What does the distinction mean?

Thanks again for joining us and please make yourself at home!

    Much Love and Peace.

    peace

    oh, ok.

I have dreams and then i have intense visions. Like last wednesday night i had a vision of a child hood friend that i haven't seen, or even heard his names in years. The vision was that of death, or some type of tragedy that had happened to him. Thursday i happen to log onto facebook and there's a link on my page to a news broadcast that while he was working to clear some snow ( he works for the sanitation dept. where he now lives) his truck fell thru some ice and he was badly injured and everyone who knows him was giving him shout outs and well wishes.

I see these kinds of things in my sleep all the time about people i know, but can't tell them for obvious reasons. At times it can be spooky which is why i wanted to get clarity on your definition of what a 'dream' is.

Frankly, I don't know if someone who can smell things in dreams is better off than those who cannot, but if their dream involves smelling rotting corpses like mine did, I'd say those who can smell are worse off. It all depends on the dream.

yes ... i can see how that might be viewed as worse off ... thanks for sharing

it's interesting though ... have you smelled a corpse in real life before?

i've heard folk say ... it's the kind of smell one never forgets ... overwhelming, alla that

but to smell it for the first and only time ... in a dream ... would probably be kinda haunting

i think it would make me wanna see what a corpse smells like in real life, so i could compare 'em

okay ... that is kinda weird ... but it might be a blessing too ... who knows?

    thanks again for sharing

I know the smell of things but I can't actually smell them. I know what written things say but I can't actually read the words. I guess if something like Inception ever happened I wouldn't need a spinning toy.
