Well, to put it in laymen's terms, work is the use of skills for products.
'Unskilled labour' is a misnomer. The children in question are collecting handouts door-to-door as part of a ritual.

Well the scenario is so lacking in description. I mean--it's very silly--the group of children can easily rearrange their candy after they leave the man's door. It's such a silly situation.
