Black People : Do we have a collective plan to save the Black community from economic Katrina??

Well said and excellent book suggestions! :toast:

Our economic/financial priorities must be put in order.

My People, "Rent-To-Own" is EVIL!

and so is any "Pay-Day" advance/loan! ......EVIL!
we need to coalesce all of these strategies to prepare for what is ahead

What I mentioned NOT "strategies."---They were suggestions.

But, yes, people do NEED a "strategy" to get out their financial ruts and bad financial habits
At Bed Stuy Restoration here in Brooklyn there ae a few community based and Black owned concerns that help folks with that,
but hopefully with the number of sisters and brothers struggling with subprime loans a website of natonal Black servicec ould be created by young CPAs from the HBCUs across the nation, and provide a free assistance service , similar to free legal aid

BLACK CAUCUS, NC NAACP DECRY GOP BUDGET CUTS, WEEK OF MAY 5-11, 2011

Blasting the ''critical and devastating cuts'' to education and state-funded programs, state Sen. Floyd McKissick, chair of the NC Legislative Black Caucus, warned that if the Republican-led NC General Assembly goes through with its proposed $19.3 billion budget, communities of color in the state will bear the brunt of the pain.

''We're looking at over 18,500 jobs being cut and slashed,'' Sen. McKissick told reporters last Friday during a press conference at the NC Black Summit in Raleigh. Democratic leaders in the Legislature have said the figure is closer to 30,000 state jobs, though Republicans dispute that.

Sen. McKissick also lamented proposed cuts to key early childhood programs. ''We're looking at Smart Start, right now, taking a cut by $38 million. More at Four--$30 million.''

''These are the types of programs that level the playing field and allow our children, low wealth children, disproportionately African-American children, all of those who need that opportunity to excel, need that opportunity to grow, need that opportunity to have access to all of those avenues.''

''All of the programs are being cut; they're being slashed,'' McKissick lamented.

The Black Caucus chair is not alone in his consternation. On Tuesday, hundreds of teachers from across the state wearing symbolic red t-shirts rallied across from the Legislative Building on Jones Street, blasting a proposed $1 billion in cuts to education statewide.

not an isolated issue to a few states or cities.

There have been several threads in the past regarding the impending bankrutcy of several important US cities.
These cuts, acts of privatization , and union busting is occuring and more then likley will occur in all major cities, where there is a black community
