For so much of the 18th century
was white made literary; or
at least that was quite
possibly the majority of
published workings...literally~

Dressed in *blue stockings rather
than in nude --
organized and attended primarily by
women with guilt or a need
to belong
fashioned themselves in the
best clothes, sitting around
idle, sneer and all, with
pretentions and aspirations
of literature and learning...

Now in the 21st century,
with the majority looking
more and more Black Like Me
Do you think that black women
wear 'blue stockings'...

I am unaware if it's true
don't know why we'd want
to
~ belong to a 'centuries
of old' literary
club with contempt and
derision from white women...

So my answer be this to you...
Women of Color - prefer
... Black Silk ...
and do not want to fit
into the mold of pre-existing
guilds that are outgrown,
ancient in beliefs...
creating separate - but
separate;
an all-to-familiar historical
grief...
...Black female scholars and literaries
in this now time of age have
created our own
