Do black people need to be led?

Is the entire concept of the Black Leader just a sort of preemptive
destructive suggestion that would allow the white power structure control of the
African population through a bought and paid for proxy? ie.. He controls
us but they control him?.. control by proxy?

The entire concept of LEADER appears to me today to live along the
same lines as KING.. and HERO.. and MESSIAH... and I have real and
lasting issues with all of those concepts.. (and I say today because it wasn't
until this moment that that idea crystallized in my mind.)
who can lead except by force, 30 million people? No one. Each person
that acts leads, even when they act in concert under the direction of a
central figure.. Their leading is in their choosing to act..

What we need in my opinion are not leaders but Strategists, Organizers,
Activists, Coordinators, Facilitators, Educators, etc.. all plying their
craft for our sake.. toward the unified purpose of worldwide African
Liberation (physical, psychological, economic / political, social and
spiritual. We dont need dudes in shiny suits portending to represent
us.. we are right here, we dont need representation. What we need is
action.. and the order in which the people move is not nearly as
    important as the movement itself.

I was born in the late 50s, but I never thought that I would live to see the day that a person of African descent
    would or could

1 actually have such a lack of faith in their own race as to believe that it is impossible for a Black woman or man to have both

    integrity and power

I thought only white supremists believed that

    2 Therefore the premiss made here is that;

    Marcus Garvey,
    Malcolm X,
    Kwame Nkhurmah,
    and
    Patrice Lumumba

WERE NOTHING BUT POTENTIAL SELL OUTS TO WHITE SUPREMACY?????

that does not seem to correlate with the Websters dictionary definition, or the consensus of the posters responding to th thread mentioned,
nor to the historical record of humanity

that is true but it would be a fallacy to say there is no need for leadership,
    in historical facts,
or in the study of the history or current state of any ethnic group of people.
The fact that the Senegalese, Dominicans, Koreans, Mexicans, Yemenis, and Bangladeshi/Sri Lankans

all have underground economic leadership and that will allow their people to excel light years past us in 20 years,
is evident in every major city in the nation

While the Oligarchs depend on , as the liberatarians call it collective power under strong leadership, White supremacy creates the myth of
    rugged individualism,
to destroy any concept of focused unity or leader formation,
    so that they
can economicaly and politicaly exploit such a people,
duped and hypnotized under such an illusion.

This is a rather hard irony and a catch 22 in the premiss presented of the term leader

    In advertizing,
the art director, pulls together the writer, graphic artist, illustrator, typographer, web designer, photographer, and photoretoucher together

    In the construction field,
it is the contractor that pulls together the architect, plumber, electrician, steelworker, carpenter, roofer, painter
    together

therefore since the above mentioned Skilled folks in regards to the race
    already exist seperatly ,

    and in great numbers,

who or what will pull them togther,

and not only pull them together but have
the ability to inspire them to work together in harmony and unison,
    towards a focused goal?

Our leaders have already set the foundation even though all of their lives were cut short.

We have enough resources at our disposal to better ourselves so no we don't really NEED a leader. All we need now is a collective effort, less excuses and more doing!

    peace

True indeed, i mean how many examples do we need!

We have the knowledge, we have the understanding, so all we have to do know is put them together in the form of action and manifest the wisdom...

    Do what brother?

    What are you talking about,
    and what world?

    Folks have been saying that since the early 80s without;
    Home computers
    Cell Phones
    The internet
    Twitter
    Myspace
    Facebook

and nobody dd squat since then and now the Black community is catching economic hell, and a neofascist attack of renewed racism,
with neocolonization on the rise n African and the Caribean

all of the so called "Yeah we know all that"

    folks

aint did sqaut with the benefit of communications technology

that real leaders could have never dreamed of!

Folks singing the same song while black folks are catching more hell

what kind of logic is there in saying the same thing and seeking different results?

    First of all:

After the more recent resistance efforts of our grandparents/parents/my own generation, aka the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements, it is counterproductive and a wee bit disgraceful for any of us to condone not condemn anybody merely considering any of our relations merely being a bunch of hapless and helpless victims...

    Simply put:

I reject the 'victim' mentality because of the cop outs and evasions such a wrongheaded take on who we truly be are!

    No...

That wasn't and isn't being directed exclusively and solely at you...

    But...

We also do need and should want to delve into the roots etc. of what continues to breed such defeatist and fatalistic takes on us and our plights etc., i. e., after some movement or movements run their courses, and it takes--not years--but decades--for some new effort or efforts to move us forward again...

After having said and written that:

I believe there are some things ABOUT us which even you have to reconsider...

    I. e., being the typical black person is a christian (believer/worshipper/etc.), and whatever really or truly distinguishes them from the white variety, etc., some things about their attitudes/viewpoints/etc. are a given, which can't just be blamed on 'whitey/racism/the system'...

Yes, Malcolm X did recognize the petty or serious squabbling, etc., then manage to help move his/my/our generation of activists etc. above and beyond it, but he hardly did it alone--and the issues/problems/etc. clashes between folk of different faiths among our own relations etc. persist even via posters on these forums!

Please let us be as for real and upfront about that too!

Well that is the point, that leaders are needed

Who has seen a level headed person at a function, party get together or family event thatwas level headed enough to stop,

6 drunken or high sisters or brothers
    from fighting each, other
    calm them down,
and get them to sit at a table,
conversate apolgeticly to each other and then in a little while and laugh it off together, in harmonious jovialty?

    that is leadership.

Any talented mediator or moderator is a leader

As far as victim mentality, how many are walking around with
    AIDS
    hepatitis
    hypertension
    diabetes
    and cancer

and are in a state of denial, and a city of disbelief?

The science of colonization is to keep people happy in their
    destitution and opression

    either happy or complacent

We have made SOME progress or we wouldn't be where we are now.

Our ancestors overcame circumstances far harsher than we are in now so we are really without excuse. The foundations have been set. What we do after that is really up to us.

look at the black community in 1985 and look at the black community today
