    Dissipation of a Brick Wall

    As a protective mechanism
I started building this brick wall around my heart
Brick by painful brick I constructed this tower
I vowed to never again let a man have power over me
Broken dreams and hopeless expectations were the foundation
Clay mixed with tears became the mortar
I worked hard on this construction site
Making the wall higher and then longer until I was fully encompassed
Within its cold but loving arms
Inside my enclosure I felt safe and knew I couldn’t be harmed
And then a black knight appeared
Beckoning to me as I looked down at him from my tower
He took the time to study my fortress with an appreciative eye
And then felt along the wall to see if a pulse still lingered inside
When he found a faint beating within, he smiled
He knew that with construction of this magnitude gaining entrance would take awhile
The knight came to me everyday, each time revealing to me the defects in his armor
He told me about the struggle to tear down his own walls
In order to get through mine
Never did he rush, but comforted me with simple words and gestures
Showing me the reflection of his soul through the liquid center of his eyes
When he returned to me one day he was surprised to see two bricks missing in the wall
With just enough light shining through he could see me
Really see me for the first time
    And he loved me
He saw me standing there in the shadows, scared to leave the protection of my home
Looking at him through tears of uncertainty, wanting to go to him
But too afraid to take the first step
So he did it for US
He reached inside my protection with an outstretched hand
And he offered me his heart
It was bruised, beaten, and slightly scarred, but he offered it without shame
And I reached inside and showed him mine…How much we have in common!
In that instant when his heart became mine and mine became his
I realized how truly dead I was until he resuscitated me
He reached for me and I came willingly
He gave me the ability to walk through walls!
And as soon as I was on the other side, my castle of fear began to crumble and fall
Tears of happiness flowed from our eyes and we held onto each other for dear life
At that moment there was only the two of us
How can I repay him for taking me out of the dark and into the light?
As long as my heart beats for him, and his for me
I will step out on faith and together we will fight
The Stronger Black Knight and his Restored Woman on his right

    :hi: Napturally
It's always soooo good to see you back home sis.
I once owned that same wall. But here's the problem with building walls, you always enclose the very enemy that you build the walls for!
Beautiful piece poet, so glad you allowed yourself to crumble the walls that can only cripple you **mentally**
Yeah, I certainly can relate to those walls sis.
Welcome back home, you've been missed :spinstar:

Gee, how do I start? What first impressed me was the description of the wall itself, tears and clay, constructed with sorrow. Then the way you scripted the Black knight, so patient and sincere, no surprise he would get through to your heart. Awesome write poetess.
