I sit...trying to think up things to say
trying to hold on to the light
    Darkness falls
    all around me stillness sits
with Age you pay a price
    things go
    slowly
crossword puzzles help keeping the mind afloat
    books, plays, even jumping rope
    But
    Darkness sits..

    Moments like these
    only fingers punching on keys
    emotions there
    yet
    somehow
    Detached
    the chaotic brain
no more a myriad of thoughts
    one word at a time
    one thought sometimes rhyme
    in this
    abyss...this blankness
    i search

before it was to make every inch dark
    to let the mind meditate
    let all thoughts erase
    But now

    wanting a flicker of light
    wanting some of the bright
    the words, the pictures
    seeing

    quiet
    only

the machine drones in my ear
    alone
    without a tear
    it seems without a care
    in this
    dry
    empty
    space

You were on the money with the word placement in this piece, talk about free flowing thoughts. Yes, sometimes we should just let those moments of stillness...be. Always interested in how you will flow next poet.
