RESOLVE 2:
If and When Barack Obama becomes President of the United States, Life for Africans in America will change for the better.

"Much of Obama's overall appeal stems from his image as practically a post-racial politician. Not only does he have a mixed-race background, with a white mother from Kansas and a black father from Kenya, but his rhetoric, most notably his 2004 Democratic National Convention speech, emphasizes the importance of Americans moving beyond political, religious and racial differences. He rarely makes explicit appeals based on his race the way Jackson did. " A lot of black people aren't ready to get beyond race, because race puts them in the situation they're in," said Ron Walters, a professor at the University of Maryland who worked on Jesse Jackson's Presidential runs. "But many whites want to get beyond the past, they want to support a black person who doesn't raise the past and in fact gives them absolution from the past."

I was one of the first to speak out against the support for Barack Obama's Run for office. I had a myriad of reasons and they are still valid.

HOWEVER:
My son did not agree.
That became one of the few things we did not see eye to eye on.
Recently during a conversation about conditions in America, My son elaborated on why he supported Barack.
He told me that Barack could not stand up and be the so called redeemer or savior of black America and expect to win a election here.
He pointed out a large number of the vocal supporters are not likely to actually vote. He asserted that African Americans are some of the most conservative
people in America because they are happy to leave things just as they are. They resist change blindly in support of what is known.
That would also alienate the white vote. He could not speak out against the war effort and get the support of the rich industrialist that feed money into the
campaigns. If Barack wanted to win this election he had to play it smart. Get in first! Then initiate what changes he may want to make. My son pointed that no
other politician was held accountable to their campaign promises and Barack would be no different. He faulted other so called black leaders for not throwing
their support behind Barack. He blames it on the prevailing crab mentality that exists in the American Black.
My initial response to Barack was" Who decided he was the African American choice, We knew very little about him and what we did know did not say
volumes on his understanding of what growing up in America as a African American is like.
I felt like he was a pawn of **** Durban, a tag along politician. Whether I was right or wrong everything my son said to me made sense. I was beginning to
reevaluate my position on Barack Obama when my son concluded:
" What I see is a Black man with two black children, like me and I don't see him doing anything that is going to effect black children
negatively".

That was all she wrote for me. "Out of the mouth of babes".

My son was right, Above all Barack shared that experience with the both of us. Wanting a better and safer world for our children.
Would I Vote for Barack because he's Black? No I would not.
Do I think he is qualified? Just as much as anyone else on the stage.
Yes Barack is a man with normal human flaws but He is the father of two small Black African American children and I believe as my son that
Barack Obama is closer to our reality than any other candidate running for that office today.
I believe that only Barack Obama offers the possibility of a change in a positive direction for the country as a whole.
My son gave me something else too, He gave me hope, I was amazed at the clarity of his thinking, an alert and calculating mind with the ability to reason.
He would go on to enlighten others and he enlightened me. I saw a wisdom in my son that surpassed my own and that makes me proud.

If we are to rely upon history as a roadmap, then we must consider that we as a people may very well be repeating it once again...which means that we did not learn anything from it. Our people saved and brought Europeans out of darkness twice. once with Greece and during the so called Middle ages. Now America is on a rapid decline in every area of power except military. Should an African man become President he will be a "preservationist or conservist" for this country. The problem is that, "what are we conserving and for who?" As African people in this country we do not have any history that we would want to conserve. Since we exist in a capitalist society capitalism can not exist unless there's some one on the bottom to capitalize off of. Every group has already let us and America know that it will not be them.

In order for Obama to attempt even if he wanted to, the issues of black people is to sway the balance of power from white to others non-white. The white people in this country will not themselves allow it. In fact, Obama could be the beginning of a race war all by himself. His assassination would be enough for even the most blind to see and understand that he was killed all because he was black. There are over 300 white supremist para-military groups in America waiting for the signal to start killing black people and any whites that support our rise. Since our people and their people are now fighting for the same economic plate so to speak, an election of Obama would be like snatching food out of their babies mouths.

Obama getting in would be like Cory Booker as the mayor of Newark. Like Cory he would have to prove that he has the white peoples concerns at hand and will do whatever is needed to get them to look past his skin color...which means that we as black people will not be benefiting at all.
