Your thoughts please!!!!
i rock nikes……..
James,...whats your thoughts on the shoes tho? whats the first thing that came to your mind when you saw the pic?
i found it too stupid to be taken seriously. i can't even get mad at them.
You're right bout one thing...It is stupid.
But you already know someone will sleep all night outside someones store and buy these for about $200.
The real question is "Why do we expect better?"
IF this is even true.
I've looked at other sites mentioning these shoes but not on the ADIDAS website.
Those other sites say that these shoes will be released by Adidas in August.
But, I've found no corroborating statement from Adidas....not even on the Adidas Facebook page.
Sometimes, internet rumors run rampant becoming urban legends...and then they become "facts" to some people.
But, let's look at this..... Why would ADIDAS run the risk of being SUED by someone for making such OFFENSIVE shoes?
What would stop a CLASS ACTION suit claiming RACISM.
I mean, really, even IF these shoes are for real, wouldn't AL SHARPTON be all ova them?....what about the ACLU or the NAACP?
I just don't think ADIDAS is this STUPID. -- Come on now, really?
Just WHO were ADIDAS hoping to market these shoes to?
...just what DEMOGRAPHIC did ADIDAS plan to sell these shoes to?
....just what do these SHACKLES represent to ADIDAS?
However, as a LIFE LESSON, I think our children should see these shoes so they will see just how the sports communities view them, any way....There should also be some football cleats with some shackles on them.
Our children need to see and understand what they mean to them....that they are no more than "SLAVES" to these shoe companies and basketball and football franchises (HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE AND PRO) which USE them....Our children need to see that they matter NOTHING to these entities...nothing more than buying their shoes and running a ball for them, either B-ball or football.
For that reason alone, I think all our young males should see these shoes and tell what they think of them.
....These shoes present a wonderful opportunity for some teaching dialogue with our male youth about their values and goals, education and media representation of Black males, etc....
Exactly Cherry,...you've made some serious points about this..
The sad thing is tho,....None of today's confused youths wants to be informed or hear about the reality behind the shackles, sagging pants, dance moves...etc. They don't know what our ancestors had to endure during the history of slavery back then.. They look at it as a style. Soo sad.
