    This feeling
    kills...
    Kills the hopes of many
and covers the dreams of the young
    erodes tangible goals and creates
    insurmountable themes
    of
    unattained accomplishments that
    find themselves laying dormant
    on abandoned living room floors
    next to crack vials
    and courvasier bottles

    This feeling
    insults ...
    Insults courage and
    ridicules the spirit
    dishonoring the respect that
    was once closely kept

    it numbs all sensibility
    rejecting the embrace of humanity
I may not be in despair
    but I am of it
    there are too many uncertainties
    tacked onto what tomorrow brings
and it leaves me to count
    every nickel on the dollar
    while I'm waiting patiently
    at the checkout line

    It's an enraged adversary~
    A one time wealthy cosmopolitan
    turned now to a penniless
    distribution of bankruptcy fanfare

    .... despair ....

    The antagonist with animosity
can efface the soul of a
    soldier in one night,
    and could eliminate the love
    that a husband gives
    unconditionally to his wife

    Devastating to the
    "all grown up"
    reverie of a child
    holding their faces down in
    mudpuddles of impropriety
    until they can no longer
see the rays of the future's
    sun

Despair has no "self" esteem ~
    it has no vision ~
    it devalues the decent
    alienates the ethical
and rules the entire world over
...it simply has no room for pride
(despair tells you not to swallow
your pride...but rather to spit it out)

    Despair is ...
    to be
    hungry and homeless
    helpless and despondent
    suffering from
    attitudinal ineffectiveness

    ...it's odorless
    despair comes blowing by
    without an identifyable scent
    ...the un-a-ro-ma-tic miserablist
    that perpetuates
    irrevocable damages
    ruining men, women, and children

    Despair is -- Everywhere

    every ... where
    I see human despair
in welfare lines and in food banks--
    shelters, hospitals, and alley ways

    Despair ...
    despair is all around us
    where there is ex-clusion
    there are ex-ecutions--
    ex-haustion
    ex-pulsion
    ex-traction
    ex-tra-or-din-ar-y emotional pain
    for those who have nowhere
    left to turn

    The outcast that feel deserted--
    distressed and in seclusion
    reading the signs of
    modern day bondage
    that has become a
    corrosive actuality~
    To live on this earth
    without trust
    without faith ...
    without belief ...
    without assurance
    ... or confidence

    ... yet and still
    in reality
    despair is a
    powerful enemy

Preach N2 preach!!! this is so **** true it is ridiculous...I was gone dance with this one ,but, it would only devalue the message. this needs to be printed on every brochure, every wall in front of welfare lines, in every schoolbook, on the desk of every teacher in every school, on every mind tattooed. keep keepin' it real. You make a poet proud :)

I'm sure 2002 has a lot in store for the poet N2. It wil not be a year to shelter your talent. much more than the board needs to hear your voice.

    peace, love, and words

    i lovedided it

if we had the type love i expressed
"Full Mental Jackets" maybe we'd be able to help people just totally avoid this situation but then there would be no market for drugs and other things all related to despair
