I am devouring my daily dose of denial

Licking its sticky sweet nectar from the tips of my out reached fingers

The thoughts of what I want don't linger long

At least not long enough to quench my thirst for nor quell the hunger pangs that scream out from deep down

I want to speak my mind

But my mind reminds me to be mindful before I speak

My soul has battle scars that can scarce be seen but still the wounds run deep from the lashes of tongues from arguments past

Yet still I'm trying to last

To remain persistent past the last of the loitering scornful remarks so that I can be the last man standing and can claim my prize of kind words

Strengthening my immunity to being outcast by and not allowed to commune within your community

Hoping and waiting for the day my expressions can expressed with impunity

No longer sentenced as guilty and guillotined

When I speak I am decapitated

    My words hold no value

Do to an inflated ego, they have been depreciated.

    To many taken for granted

Granted most are never taken at all

But I beg of the world to listen to at least the smallest subset and not let them all fall on a deaf ear

I keep my innermost thoughts in mostly when I'm out

So daily I deny myself my express right of my self expression

I am learning that great strength lies in my self denial

    But so does great lunacy.

To thine own self be true. Poetry is a great way to get those real feelings out, if only onto paper. I think we've all been in this place. This was an interesting piece, I'd like to hear more from you.

When we fully realize our voice...

    I mean..."fully realize our voice"

    it will be heard...

and no denial of any commune, ego or structure

can stop...the river that will burst forth...

    Reflective and insightful peace...

    Thanks for sharing with us!

I agree with the two greats who have responded to this post. You can only be who you are, and we all use our writings to right our own wrongs. Much love, peace and blessings to you.
