I am a defiant black woman who won’t accept and
    Refuses to need
And then I woke up again, like I do ever so often
And realize I’m hanging from some type of punctuation I’m prying is not a period
Because I don’t want this to be the end
So I swing until I can bring my life back up to the beginning of this next stanza that begins with
    Why?
    Why deny myself of myself
Why never mind the phrases that peek through my intellect
My core is breathing and I’m suffocating my self education
Because I’m fully focused on life’s concentration
    And so my meditation falls
Generations cease at the cost of an education, life and being someone who’s not me
And now you’re mad at me
    Beating me angrily
    Bleeding through my finger tips
Making me compensate for my defiant behavior
Shame on this black female who refuses to abide by the rules
    But what can I say
I am a black woman who won’t accept and
    Refuses to need
So I will bleed in acceptance until I can accept that fact that
    I need you.

Nothing wrong with a little attitude. As long as it keeps you clear and safe from being taken or used.
