I may have posted this a while back
    can't remember
reading tonight for the first time

    times changing
    unrealistic plans fading
a family now creating tension in the air
as goals are abandoned and we try
    solidifying without sarcrificing
our lives and splicing together two
when one was hard enough to get done
and there is no longer an option to run
    everyday pushing my nose
to the grind and I have
    the presence of mind
    to be blind
    while you try to decide
    how all this sh*t should
    unwind, regardless, together
    our lives intertwined
    although tangled seems more appropriate
as it comes to the confused lies we emit
as both back off refusing to commit
our child already a member of
    banana splits
    all before he takes his
    first breath and they tell
me to stay calm and rest
    yet, these thoughts are my
    unwelcomed guest
and I detest being this upset
    cuz you know, you didn't
    ask for the blood test
    one third of all children
    are born to mothers unwed
    looking after their children
    long after fathers fled
jumping from our warm sleigh beds
    after only a single
dose of the daily doldrums of dread
    that we women constantly
    have hung over our heads
how is our son supposed to learn
to be a man from a boy
how is it that you are still
    underemployed
    still playing with toys
you are such a mamas boy
    here I go again
    gettin all annoyed
when we both should be overjoyed
into this world we are bringing
    a little man
    so why is it
while Im choosing between pension plans
and im trading in my car
    for the mini van
    are you still
trying to figure out how you
    fit into the game plan
    we've always known eachother
    and where weve been
this is not something that can
    be washed away like
    original sin
quickly my thick skin is wearing thin
    this is me
    your love
    holding your child
    deep within

I have mixed feelings about situations like this one.

But, in the end, the child is always the biggest victim.

This was a poignant piece...an anthem of sorts for single mothers...doing the best they can with what they've got....Memories make the hard trials and the weary toil bittersweet because Mama still must put shoes on little growing feet.

    sadly some stories unfold...

This could be an entry to too many diaries. I agree with CherryB about the child.

You work words so well. Very moving piece.

    Good luck on your reading:)

    feelin'it souldeep!
