As I sit alone at home in my chair, I feel a cold and unwanted presence near. In the corner of my eye I see a dark shadowy figure stare, but I cannot make out what, or whom, or why it's there . I am frightened and petrified to look. It's ancient eyes piercing my soul. I can feel and sense it's eyes frozen in time and blacker than the abyss. I hold my breath to listen to see if I can hear it, but the only sound I hear is a clock in the background counting down the seconds till the end of time. I can feel it desiring something within me. Why cannot I get up run away from this entity? I want to escape this captivity of its gripping gravity. My mind wants to flee but my body remains, excepting, willing, ready. It is still in my peripheral and it has not moved an inch. I call out to it, it says nothing. I cry, I laugh, I scream. I want nothing more than for this to be just a dream. Memories and thoughts overflow my mind and it passes like a flash of light, but yet I've seen it all, as if I were there in each passing memory of my life. My loved ones, I hadn't had a chance to say goodbye. Goodbye? Is this what this is? My end? Suddenly I no longer can remember any more. Those thoughts and memories, gone forever. The clock stops. I smile. And a tear leaves my eye one last time.

I wonder...when someone is facing death do they really experience something like this, or similar any some form of way to this? Or are they suddenly gone?
