UPDATE: Sheriff says man killed woman with hammer, dragged her about a quarter mile

    NEWS RELEASE
    RE: Death Investigation, Rose City

    June 7, 2010

    For Immediate Release:

On Saturday, June 5, 2010, at approximately 10:55 AM the Orange County Sheriff's Office received a call in reference to a possible deceased person at the Rose City Sand Pit in Rose City.

A W/M had walked to the sand pit office and asked them to contact the Sheriff's Office. When Deputies arrived the W/M advised he had been assaulted at the Rose City Sand Pit and that he needed medical treatment and also that a female was possibly deceased at the location. Acadian Ambulance transported the W/M to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

Upon checking the area, deputies found the body of a deceased black female in a canal next to a maroon Ford F-250 truck which was also in the canal. Deputies entered the water and removed the female from the water at which time observed that there was a rope attached to the body and also the truck. Orange County Justice of the Peace Janice Menard pronounced her deceased at the scene and ordered and inquest. The victim was transported to the Jefferson County Morgue.

Investigators at the Hospital spoke to the W/M and Once the W/M victim had been treated at the hospital he volunteered to come to the Sheriff's Office to give a statement on the event. Investigators determined that the incident could not have occurred as the W/M described. Once the investigators began to question him about the details he had given, he admitted to murdering the female and attaching her body to his truck to dispose of her body.

According to the suspect, he picked up the female on Magnolia Ave. in Beaumont and the two of them drove to the Rose City Sand Pit. He said he was familiar with the location as he once worked there. Once at the location the two of them got into and argument and a fight ensued. He killed the female at the location and admits to attaching a rope to her body and dragging her from the scene to the canal to dump her body.

Once he admitted to the murder, the W/M was taken into custody and charged with the offense of Murder and is currently in the Orange County Correctional Facility. The suspect has been identified as WILLIAM BAKER BIBB, W/M a 35 year old Kountze, TX resident. Bond has been set at 1 Million Dollars.

The victim has been identified as THERESA ADELL ARDOIN, B/F, a 26 year old Beaumont resident. An autopsy was performed on Ms. Ardoin and the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.

There has been no evidence developed at this time to indicate a hate crime.

The fact that bond was even set is ridiculous enough, but :

    - Is straight bull ish...

I guess it's common practice in texas to carry rope inside of your truck in case you run into a black female or male you might feel like bashing in the head and using as a fender ornament after trying to rape them, then tell the police you were attacked and need treatment!!

They can call it what ever they want as long as he gets the death penalty or even life.

That's a high bail, but what does he need bail for....he confessed...he needs to get busy dying or doing life.

I'm glad law enforcement didn't just take his bogus story and turn a blind eye.

The motivation behind criminal acts is important because past crimes are often an indication of future crimes. This is why when the DC sniper was on the loose, they focused in on a description of the victims. If a person is targeting specific individuals, than that leaves the public in a better position to protect themselves and prepare themselves.

In order to become pro-active, we need fore thought, the establishment of patterns, and the ability to predict behavior.

Without such, we are left with no other option but to be re-active.

A dead woman is a dead woman. The murderer deserves death or life behind bars....personally, I don't care what his motive was, his race, his shoe size....I'm just that way...

Unless she was kidnapped, how can one protect someone from a hitch hike?

A white sheet, a swastika, and a burning cross has to be next to the body for it to be considered "evidence".
