This be one of the forgotten Historical history hidden
and history was made in 1965 in Bogalusa, Louisiana
DEACONS of DEFENSE was born and formed by a african
American in the movement for equal rights Marcus Clay

In the 1930's this small town was ruled by the klans
and black knew to never rase a hand or think too much
would mean death as child Marcus witness a lynching that
shook him for years .

DEACONS of DEFENSE is a Historical history as the kkk
klu klux klan white power tryed to keep hold on the color
these men took on that power as Defenders of the African
American community in Bogalusa in summer 1965 the action
of this groups was formed when the (NVNCR)
none voilence national civil rights movement as youth walked
in marchies in town and was beaten as father of his daughter
who was beaten by an officer of law Marcus attacked in protection
to his daughter aid and was arrested but not jailed beaten by
the law it was well known that a people of color couldn't
walk , talk drink or eat as whites couldn't attemp a higher job
title as supervisors he watch one man sign his name at the plant
for a job title and was beaten by night as klans handle and
enforced the power , as on the other side as MLK martin Luther King movement was going strong every movement attempted
was burn down and lynching was in 1953 & 1957 as the movement continue with beatens and walks of none voilence
marcus was appointed to leadership as he formed with the 5
deacons from church to put a stop to the racial riots on the
community DEACONS of DEFENSE became stronger as they
cross in the movement with firearms to stand up against the
kkk and took the movement in a diffirent direction backing
micheal Dean for up north and small riots clashed and kkk was
coming in from all over the south to stop the movement but it
had reached power as dimastrators was coming in from
CHICAGO, NEW YORK, WASHINGTON in marching for equal rights
the Mayor & Gov. set a meeting to end it but the people wanted
equal rights/ better jobs of pay//protection from lawmen when
in marching and the whites couldn't have that and the whites
wanted this deacon of defense to be demolished........Marucs
walked out standing up for the people rights soon every color
sign was rip down from walls ,doors and Afrian Americans was
able to speak live freely as the DEACON took down the klans

the untold story of the civil rights movement has been revealed
why it was untold say Dr.L Lasimba M. Gray the author
in his research and visits to Bogalusa it was untold , the white power media serving as an extension of the power structure of
this country in the oppressional 50's and 60's could illafford to
tell the story of the DEACON OF DEFENSE FOR JUSTICE
the facts is the paradigm for selfdefense as exercised by the
Deacons would have been duplicated all over the south and
blood would have flowed in streets but in Bogalusa the
population of such would have took over the south
it was the great efforts that took to the deep south in errupting
the struggle to stop the segregation and withstand the kkk
in a fire for fire battle ......the untold stories of history made .

by Dr.L Lasimba
film by Amin Sharif.......producer

here are a few links to inlighten more on the

THe DEACONS was uplifting that the FBI luanch an full investigation on the movement of these African Americans

Thanks for the post Rich. You're right, the Deacons of Defense are a forgotten part of the Civil Rights Movement. They also played an influential role in the creation of the Black Panther Party.

Good Post

a brotha from the original BPP was telling me about it and I was amazed then, but I knew some one had to be protecting them.

yes this made the BPP very strong and was able to stand up
in the many efforts and roits for our equal rights , we so enjoy
today cause of these very men it was half the battle we faced
coming through the years , we still at war on rights and peace
as well as freedom the justice has bent but not a full bend to
our full rights we still labled and made to be the prime target
they now today trade in the white sheets for blue uniforms
now called the police .....with higher goverment backing them
