Yes phil has 10 rings and all that, but he had horses he rode too. Jordan, Shaq, Kobe, Pippen, and playing with willis reed earl the pearl, and walt frazier didn't hurt him either. Phil knows how to stay the heck out of the way and let the horses do the work. Amazing when jordan retired, NO RINGS. Jordan comes back, takes a season to get it together after penny hardaway & co ran him out of the playoffs, the season after that BOOM jordan's fourth ring.
If phil were to come to NY (which I don't think is a possibility unless he gets 12-15mil a yr) and win a championship with this group Jeremy Lin included, I'll give phil all the credit. What coach can you remember won it all with nothing. Look at Doc Rivers in boston, he was nothing and on his way out, then Garnett and Allen arrived. Now he's a genius.
Look at Duke and Coach K, they were knocked out in the first round in the NCAA. Why he didn't have the horses.
I think coaches are overrated to a degree. To a degree, because you still need players. You can have the greatest game plan ever devised but you still need horses.
So with all that said, I think Mike Woodson will be fine. He has a couple of horses running for him.
