I rise from the temple of da womb
to a life dat's set on doom
in da first sweet sleep of night
i stand i rise wit all my might
when da windz are breathing low
da beat in free verse da congo roll
river water dance in waves
the great spirit lift me upon my feet
tappin in a skip on every tune

Black souls move in rythem
beside da waters runnin down stream
all the pain leep of faith
dat my eyez has seen
each womb burns like da moonz
i rise , i rise on da notes of thou drums
awaiting my peace for my freedom come
great mandingo da worrior of man sung

O' lift me from thou land
raise ya mighty uplifting hand
let thy love & kisses rain
take away all my hurt & pain
da spirits of forefathers stand
only freedom is death to black man
woman de child let da beat be heard for miles
from da bankz of da river glow
i dance , i dance , i rise , i rise to freedom

I'm back on da river of hope
as I rise , (I rise) dancin in motion
for the love in which we stand
O' I rise to set forth a will a voice to sing
a note to script a verse to read
I dance into the blood on river banks
I rise for the greater tomorrow
I rise for yesterday's pain today's gain
I rise wit faith and mental freedom
I rise wit structure and foundation
that can't be raddled
I rise to the cries for help
I rise to spread my wing lift thy voice i sing
I rise to tell of his coming
I rise again by da black river to free myself
Uncage minds/ lift spirits
as i move beyond doubts/ mental struggle
I rise to my serenade ...
