Open my eyes from a pitiful night's rest
    cyr
My first thought is another day of some BS
    cyr
Look in the mirror to see that I'm still black
    cyr
Far from my goals in life trying forever to get on track
    cyr
Get ready for work, whatever or hustle
    cyr
Today could be peace or death from a tustle
    cyr
Pass by a mile high stack of bills and papers
    cyr
as they continue to pile on the kitchen table
    cyr
Out the door -and there's my next door neighbor
    cyr
Driving one of four cars -all new and paid for
    cyr
I got no credit and if I did there's higher rates
    cyr
I got no collateral -and that's what they say it takes
    cyr
At the light I stop -there goes a cop -I get afraid
    cyr
No suit and tie to make him feel that I'm ok
    cyr
plus i wear the fro -braids or locks, see
    cyr
and that's a legal profile for them to stop me
    cyr
I go to church and pray like them
    cyr
still to succeed my chances are slim
    cyr
I'm educated employable and most willing to train
    cyr
But my address gives me away just like my name
    cyr
I pray and pray and pray and pray and pray and pray
    cyr
from all that praying with no real change I changed my ways
    cyr
get to work for lesser pay
    cyr
first to get fired if the company had its way
    cyr
black sistas treat me like I'm not their cup of tea
    cyr
cause corporate ethics won't ever become my philosphy
    cyr
it so hard to be myself happy and free
    cyr
because "they" associate ridicule with my ancestry
    cyr
so i get tired, frustrated and finally fired
    cyr
these sistas want "things" so our relationship expires
    cyr
thanks to my ancestors there are sistas that understand
    cyr
understand the system that faces this black man
    cyr
and in her role she play her part for growth and change
    cyr
representing the real -respect gets gained -to feel no pain

    Really, Can you relate?

    Hey alyce -love bug you!!

Nia- if this is the first time you've read me -then put on your chin strap cause my writing shall be attitude-intensive. Don't be a runner. Thanks for feeling the agreeable. Stay tuned for the controversy...
