the near north
He stood at a crossroad
Intersecting right and wrong

He knew what was right

But wrong was so appealing to him
Revealing a side of him
He never knew existed

Now…

He knew how to treat a woman
…was taught the meaning of respect
and he liked the rewards he got from doing so

he stood at this crossroad
being pulled north and south
…east and west

‘til…

he tore up his playaz card
no longer would he be a member…or seen
in a club that disrespects his QUEEN

No longer would he tolerate things
He, himself, have done
For the fun of doing so
Like screwing this one and that one
In the name of fun
When it coz’d his lady pain
Just the same

He stood…
On the corner of sad street
And good times
Knowing that good times would lead to
Love and happiness
And GOD would bless
His efforts to do so

As tempting a desert as fleshly delights were
He turned his back upon open thighs
…moans and sighs of a lusty kind
in favor of a loving caress
from one who wants only the best
for him

as pimps and playaz
hoodrats and skank hoes
stroll by
telling lie after lie
he watched them go
no mo’ would the fast lane
to debauchery and thangs
weigh heavily upon his neck
he would proudly wear
the ball-n-chain
of his passionate QUEEN
and she would never again know neglect.

{NOW…he was a man}
