Well, what about that man who had no father in his life?
Nor a mother who gave any good example of what kind of wife
    He should choose?
    But from trial and error
    Or just an intrinsic fortitude
He still, SOMEHOW, turned out "good?"
Well, doesn't that rather negate all those presumptuous views?
So, why, then, should he embrace YOU and every former bruise
    That HE did not inflict?
Is he truly your choice for a prime piece of partnered peace, hand picked
Or just the delayed gratification for pay-back on former hurts
Either consciously or subconsciously, planned and tricked-
    Out
    With a warm smile
    But a heart, hostile
Skilled in the art of guile?
    The unwitting target
Of your darts of self doubt
Just so, later, when it doesn't work out
YOU can say, "See! I KNEW IT!
He never really loved me anyway."
    And only HE is convicted
Of crimes against your heart just like the array
Of men who came before him.
    While your vision remains dim
And you go through life sad and lonely
But will put on a false face of bravado with
    " I don't need a man!"
Be that as it may and it's surely a good thing
Because you can only do well on the "catch"
But won't learn from lessons on how to "cling."

"Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting
    different results." - Albert Einstein

The cycles that we go through in life, hurting each other without a thought given to the whys of the behavior, destined to repeat. Food for thought in this well written scribe.

Thank you much for the luv, Watz, Rich, Baller, and Randee!

We all have to look at the man and the woman in the mirror. Black men and Black women point fingers of blame at each other more than realizing that we are not and should not be each other's enemy.

    Great flow

I loved my father no less, he lived the life he chose.
Gone to the maker, but he did know he was still loved.

This had me reflecting off role models and folks I have in my life.
    Thank you for sharing.
