I believe that one of our biggest problems in the African conscious community is our numbers. We are in a war for the minds of our children. The education/media system is taking a large percentage of our children through the promotion of a destructive culture and miseducation. Not only are our children not being taught the true history of Kemet(knowledge of self) they are not even given a proper education in the math and sciences.

    Media
I believe we can counter the media machine by intercepting and reaching kids before they are acclimated into the destructive culture that is around them. Present to children, in mass, certain subjects that are fundamentally counter to the current culture. Foreign languages, specific hobbies, science projects, anything that will stick with the child and counter the acclimation will need to be used.

    Education
The education process requires motivation and repetition. We can counter low motivation by reducing the amount of repetition needed to learn a particular subject. We can also counter other psychological factors such as math anxiety, memory decay, negative attitude toward education, esteem issues with education etc.
1.Take the memory process out of the hands of the child.
2.Utilize mnemonic strategies, memory preloading strategies, and spacing algorithms to deal with memory decay, low motivation, math anxiety, and other psychological factors.
3.Use these strategies to counter the school to prison pipeline.

We can use these strategies to increase our numbers and provide a counter to the majority rule mentality that continues the destructive culture.

I will be updating the acrostic system with some changes and updates over the next couple of weeks. I will attempt to get a chat-room discussion going on how to best get this out to the masses. My goal is to go straight to the heart of the problem.

1.Secure the necessary facts and procedures into the child's memory so that they can pass their classes, the GED, graduation exams, SATs, etc..
    2. Avoid the educational bureaucracy, group politics, pedagogy battles, bickering etc...

We have the technology to deal with the issue. Our children should not be falling off due to something as simple as Algebra or a little memorization here and there. We need to take the memory process out of the hands of the child.

The topic of memory is fundamental to educational success, but the general society and educational system ignore the issue. I personally believe that me must turn around the culture now before a future economic collapse. Katrina and Detroit are only a preview of whats to come.

Once again, a comment that is factual that says we need our own schools. I homes schooled mine, but it's not for everybody due to people's different learning styles.

    :11200:

    How SO?

Impossible. Memory is not something you can give, or take at will.

Can you explain each of these, and show how you would implement them? Also, are you talking about a learning system like SRS? If so, it's based on repetition, something you just said we have to cut down on.

I agree, one being getting the parent(s) involved in helping their kids. I see so many that is content with their child performing at a mediocre level. Accepting a "C" when a "B" was just as easy to get.

    Peace!

We tried at one time but where waylaid by a homosexual midget, with megalomania, now we must try to restore it! http://destee.com/index.php?threads/j-edgar-hoover-and-the-war-on-the-afrocentric-movement.67128/

The need for a high level of motivation can be reduced for subjects that require a large amount of repetition and memorization by utilizing the strategies I mentioned.

Math anxiety- This can be countered by using a hierarchy category system and maintaining that system in memory via the SRS. With a category system, the child can alleviate anxiety by recalling items within a specific category. The category to be used is identified by the math problem itself.
    Here is an example https://app.box.com/s/bwjp28e1fhtgdkgwxwba

Memory decay- The SRS handles the issue of memory decay.

Negative attitude/esteem- With the core issues of memory solved, the child's attitude, which is very important, will change. A child's attitude towards education greatly effects what he or she will do academically.

Memory process- This is another word for studying. When you study, you are applying repetition to facts and procedures. A SRS can be utilized to take the responsibility of maintaining the probability of retention out of the hands of the child. The educational system does not teach the child or parent how to study or the basics of the forgetting curve. The average child is not aware of factors such as chunking, proactive interference, retroactive interference, retrieval cues, memory leeches, decay intervals, etc. Memory can be controlled up to a certain percentage point. http://www.supermemo.com/articles/theory.htm

Spacing algorithms- Repetition is necessary. The SRS reduces the amount necessary and spaces it out.

Mnemonic strategies- Acrostics are used to supplement the SRS algorithm and reduce the amount of repetition necessary within the SRS.

Preloading strategies- By using acrostics instead of the subject matter, we further space out the workload.(repetition) within the SRS. A young child can mature memory connections in advance of learning the material.

For example- A 7 year old that utilizes the system would have 7 years before Algebra 1. The workload for this period would be so small that it would not have any effect on motivation.

I will post my points here out of convenience. https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/2316938095

    Identification
    ---------------------
problem: The student remembers the formula/procedure/steps but does not remember its name or application.
solution: The topic ID is at the head of the acrostic. Here is an example.

Adding and subtracting terms- [for fractions- same denominator/for polynomials- same exponent and variable/for radicals- same index and radicand]

    Verification
    ------------------
problem: The student remembers the formula/procedure/definition but is unsure of the accuracy of the recall.
solution: A weakened or an interference-ladened recall can be verified via interconnections to the retrieval cue, material, or the acrostic.

    Categorization
    ----------------------
problem: The student has forgotten that a formula/procedure/definition exists.
solution: The category lists are maintained in memory via the spaced repetition system.

problem: The student does not know what to do or where to begin solving the math problem.
solution: Parts of the math problem can be identified and matched to their category.

problem: The student creates his or her own rule or procedure thinking that the rule or procedure exists and is valid.
solution: Every action in the example has an ID and is maintained in memory by the spaced repetition system.

    https://app.box.com/s/bwjp28e1fhtgdkgwxwba

    Elaboration
    -----------------
problem: The student has partially or completely forgotten a formula/procedure/definition.
solution: The acrostic is interconnected with the material and is maintained in the spaced repetition system. The topic ID and subcategories are used as retrieval cues to help recall the acrostic and the material. Here is an example.

    A S T [ F... P... R... ]
Adding and subtracting terms- [for fractions- same denominator/for polynomials- same exponent and variable/for radicals- same index and radicand]

    Assisted initial repetition
    ----------------------------------
problem: New material requires a large amount of initial drill.
solution: For new material, the acrostic letters and knowledge of the material are used to assist the initial recall of new material.

    --------------------
    My statistics
    --------------------
3 on the answer button graph is the number of retrieval cue successes.
2 on the answer button graph is the number of retrieval cue failures.

    Learning stage
    ---------------------
    https://app.box.com/s/z4qpxkbm613vpkz5gay6
    https://app.box.com/s/cgptckx0pscitc4hwzra

Over-learning stage (Workload starts to decrease)
    ----------------------------
In this stage, over-learning and the spacing effect pushes the cards into maturity.

    [10] https://app.box.com/s/rjjfe82mw24q4dhvmsqo

Majority mature stage (Workload decreases to very small numbers)
    ---------------------------------
You should wait until the cards have reached this stage before you use the system for a test. If the test is really important use the quick reference to test yourself, and reset the intervals on any failed recalls. You should also be able to recall the category lists.

I would like to get in contact with organizations and pass this out among the community via cds.
If you know any or are a part of one join the conversation. Any hindrance to getting solutions out to the people will need to be addressed. The pdf, spaced repetition software, and pdf reader will be placed on the cds.
