I'm an alumni of the block
    very few graduated
from the school of hard knocks
thank God that I made it

    The road was might long
    and the battles plenty rough
some of my people stood strong
    while others weren't strong enough

    They succumb to the weight
    of an overbearing life
    the darkness of fate
    suffocates the guiding light

    Never seen a tear shed
    but heard plenty cries
    even though our wounds bled
    somehow we still survivied

    i hear the whispered prayers
    of my fallen soldiers
    pondering if the pain
    will ever be over

    forsaken hopes and dreams
    fall by the way side
    asking for help
i lift my head to the sky

Precious Lord please take my hand
lead me on and help me stand
place my feet on a solid rock
give me the strength to revive my block

venture outside the pews and church walls
to incline your ear to the ghetto's call

grant grace to my folks that's trapped in the streets
protect the projects and caress the ConKrete

    NittyGrit,

I am feeling this piece deeply. I am remembering the rougher days of my early youth, and the struggle. Those days weren't easy, but when I think of how I could have fallen in the streets and died, or encountered worser fates I have to be thankful for making it this far.

I appreciate the love from my fellow scribes
    Always remember Romans 8:18

I consider that our present sufferings
are not worth comparing with the glory
that will be revealed in us

    Keep Grind'n
