A concrete jungle.....

living hard, dying young
street corner hang outs
a second place to roam
stolen cars speed by,
never knowing when to run
always watch your back
for danger or a gun
babies playin in the street
noone's watching, noone home
Narcs' making their rounds
pretending to serve and protect
slippin drug dealers crack
clockin their investment
hot summer nights.......
chillin on the porch
jammin on the Isley's
whateva music is enjoyed
spade games til 3 in tha morn
was the typical norm
there were bad times
sometimes there were good

life in the......concrete jungle

will never be understood
you fight hard to make it
plans of financial security
finally, leaving the hood

the concrete jungle.....

will always be my home
no matter how far I go
neva forget where I'm from
it was a needed lesson
taught to appreciate the poor
what dreams to reach for
what avenues to explore

The concrete jungle

a different part of life
yet, I know where I been
and the places in my life....I want to go

i can appreciate this i know you know

watch your conscious buckle
Dees are the streets and this is the struggle
don't stumble
Welcome to the Concrete Jungle

reach for the waste
another murda case
in the rat race
all common-place

under the guise of the "context"
you know doing more wit less
planning five years? how? when what happens tomorrow is anybody's guess
we're scared to stay alive not scared to death

the Concrete Jungle 10 million people in a 5 mile radius
to live it

is to understand the craziness

you say "those people" but that's not even the case
red lined by the banks
lined with invisible paint
it is what it is and it ain't what it ain't
