Black Entertainment : Compton, Comcast and Commercialism: NWA, Hip-Hop and Rape Culture

The sky must be falling.
I am'bout to come off somewhat,
objective.

MS234 and Enki made valid points:
MS234:I have stated in past dicussions about
the affect of being in someone's cultural
incubator. Amerikkka is drenched in a
culture of violence and destruction,
physically and non physically. So it
it would be near impossible that it does
not rub off on black folks who has been
and still is, under the domination of
yurugu.

Enki: Music with a message, be it negative
or positive when played repetitively can
have an effect on the masses. This speaks
to the kind of propaganda spawned by the
likes of ely barneys onto joseph goebbels.
Listening to p.e. bdp x clan etc, had a
positive affect on me. Listening to x's,
lecture had a positive affect on me as well.
So rappers, though mainly the record labels
and corporations that in endorse them, should
be called to task more so now then ever.

I opine that it wouldn't be so f'd up if there was
balance on the radio/in the hip-hop game. On
the real, I listened to some 2livecrew yet however,
I listened to p.e. (still listen to p.e. -they are still
making records).

Contradiction?
I'd say yes.

Yet I do not know balance
without degrees of contradiction.

Enki, MS234: Help me get this sky
off my chest and back on the rack!

Discussion are more interesting when
I stand squarely on one position, or
the other...

Sorry brutha..but you're wrong. They are responsible for perpetuating it. So again, tell me what are you defending?

Peace!

First off where do u see me "defending" ANYTHING?

Second you're such in a rush to prove me wrong, yet you use the "perpetuate". So basically you confirm what i'm saying yet you find me wrong.

Third this is not about me being wrong this is about me recognizing there's a deeper problem. A problem that NWA seemed to just follow suit.

There were not the first they are not the last. Im tryin 2 get at the source of why people think this behavior is ok.
Yet you deem me wrong for that.

Brutha Raptor, you said it so perfectly yourself what the problem is.IMO, the reason hip-hop doesn't sound the same as when PE, Erick B,etc was in the game is because the industry and mainstream media has inundated us with with a steady diet of rappers talking about drugs, sex and violence. But let also blame MTV, BET, etc for trying to redefine what hip hop is in order to sell it and shove it down the throats of our young. Yeah I know it's easy to blame simple minded rappers for promoting negative messages and images, and they should share in the blame. Unless someone can tell me why they shouldn't be held accountable. But as i keep saying this negativity has a black face, just like Andy and Amos , but it's the white owned multi billion dollar companies that is behind them.

For example Chief Keef is viewed as the poster boy for mindless rap while Jimmy Iovine escapes ridicule. And that is what gets me, are they that dumb that they are doing Yt's biding?
