    after so many days of baking in the sun
    mother nature's thirst is finally quenched
    the thunder roars
    the rain has come

    hard ground softens with each needed drop
    the beautiful countryside
    has turned into a sponge
    soaking up the rain
    that won't soon stop

    brown is not the color grass should be
    hard cracked mud
    is not the lake I love to see
    leaves should not be falling
    this early from their tree

    beautiful rain
    beat down on my roof
    prevent me from sleep
    let your wetness soak deep
    rain hard
    rain long
    soothe my soul
    with your pounding song

    force your way through the sky
    a sky that is shackled
    by heat and the sun
    take your place as a componet of life
    let us rejoice
    the rain has come

    Heartbeat, your words on this one make even a parched desert girl feel refreshed. I love the sound of the pounding rain's song but have not heard it in sooooooooo long. Thank you for this wonderful quenching of my soul's thirst.

    Bruce,

    there are so many nuances within this work that bring to mind a thirst which only life/renewing rain can quench. I am filled with a sense of urgency through your flawless use of words...

    "beautiful rain
    beat down on my roof
    prevent me from sleep
    let your wetness soak deep
    rain hard
    rain long
    soothe my soul
    with your pounding song"

    when sleep is not required...that the rain may fall in torrents...pounding... woooweeee!

    and then:

    "force your way through the sky
    a sky that is shackled
    by heat and the sun
    take your place as a componet of life
    let us rejoice
    the rain has come"

    at long last, after being held captive by the oppressive heat... the clouds burst!

    Celebration!

    Your imagery is.....(no word)!!!!!!!

    thank you

    alyce

    Heartbeat...this is refreshingly astounding. It's way deeper than it appears to be on the surface...way deeper.
