Why We Can Trust God
ROMANS 11:33-36
The heavenly Father is omniscient, sovereign, and unconditionally loving. Therefore, we have every reason to trust Him, no matter what the circumstance. Scripture teaches that God is infinitely wise. He always knows the best course of action for us and proceeds accordingly. When we lack understanding, the Lord perceives exactly what is happening and why. At other times, we may have all the information that is humanly possible to gather. God alone, however, is aware of everything influencing the situation as well as all potential consequences. He sees the end from the beginning, grasps the totality of every decision, and knows precisely what fruit will come from our trials. More than that, He is infinitely wise, so He can never make a mistake. (Proverbs 3:5-6) God also has complete authority over all events, large and small. (Isaiah 43:11-13) Because our minds are finite, we have trouble comprehending God's ways and reconciling His sovereignty with the presence of evil or tragedy. At such times, it helps to remember that His control is exercised perfectly through the filter of His great love and complete knowledge. The Lord's plans are always developed according to His perfect, dependable, and consistent love. They are carried out through His infinite wisdom that sees the past, present, and future. Every element of the plan is under His authority. Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me" (John 14:1 NIV). Your trust will grow as you ponder His limitless love, wisdom, and sovereignty.
