Why We Can Trust God

ROMANS 11:33-36

The heavenly Father is omniscient, sovereign, and unconditionally loving. Therefore, we have every reason to trust Him, no matter what the circumstance. Scripture teaches that God is infinitely wise. He always knows the best course of action for us and proceeds accordingly. When we lack understanding, the Lord perceives exactly what is happening and why. At other times, we may have all the information that is humanly possible to gather. God alone, however, is aware of everything influencing the situation as well as all potential consequences. He sees the end from the beginning, grasps the totality of every decision, and knows precisely what fruit will come from our trials. More than that, He is infinitely wise, so He can never make a mistake. (Proverbs 3:5-6) God also has complete authority over all events, large and small. (Isaiah 43:11-13) Because our minds are finite, we have trouble comprehending God's ways and reconciling His sovereignty with the presence of evil or tragedy. At such times, it helps to remember that His control is exercised perfectly through the filter of His great love and complete knowledge. The Lord's plans are always developed according to His perfect, dependable, and consistent love. They are carried out through His infinite wisdom that sees the past, present, and future. Every element of the plan is under His authority. Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me" (John 14:1 NIV). Your trust will grow as you ponder His limitless love, wisdom, and sovereignty.

“I’m the only one who really knows what time it is. --- God”

The Bible says that God has set into motion an eternal plan---a plan that includes a new heaven and a new earth. A world devoid of suffering and pain, hate and murder, corruption and death. It is described as a world where the ravages of pollution and decay have been erased and the earth has been returned to the glory of its original creation.

On that earth, God will dwell in sweet communion with those who have chosen to make Him part of their lives. The tears of sorrow shed for those who have turned their backs on His love will by then be in the past. Instead, tears of joy will flow down His face onto those who have chosen to receive the riches of His compassion, mercy and loving-kindness.

Only God knows how long it will be before the next step in His divine plan begins to play itself out. The Bible tells us that we cannot even imagine all that God has in store for those who have claimed their place in His kingdom.

Don’t miss your opportunity to be part of God’s eternal plan. Don’t let His invitation to live forever in the light of His presence lie on your desk unopened until it’s too late. Say yes. Give Him your heart!
From GodSpeaks Devotional, 2000, pp. 186-187.

“No one knows about that day or hour; not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

Mark 13:32

Prayer: Heavenly Father, truly, it is beyond our imaginations as to what heaven will be: a place where You will dwell with your children of many cultures. A place where God will wipe every tear from our eyes and death, and mourning, and crying, and pain will be no more. A place were all things will be made new and nothing will rust or decay, and darkness will not exist in the light of God’s glory---a place where loving relationships will be the order of the day. May we be guided by your Spirit in preparation for that homecoming? In Christ’s name we pray. Amen
