Gov. Chris Christie campaign reportedly subpoenaed

A federal prosecutor has reportedly subpoenaed campaign documents from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s 2013 reelection campaign.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman has asked the campaign to provide information on the cancellation of meetings between the campaign and Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop, who did not endorse Christie.

His Dallas Cowboys won, but what Chris Christie did lose?

Governor Christie's free trip was not illegal but it has raised some conflict of interest concerns because Mr. Jones also has a business relationship with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, notes The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Christie’s ethical conflict stems from the Jones and the Cowboys partial ownership of Legends Hospitality LLC, which has secured a license from the Port Authority to open an observation deck at the new One World Trade Center.

Christie has been a fan of the Cowboys since his childhood and was given a private jet ride to Dallas and game tickets from Mr. Jones.

Report: Chris Christie Illegally Accessed Late Senator's Travel Records

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey was under fire. It was 2012 and the agency had just hiked tolls on area bridges and tunnels. Inside a hearing room on Capitol Hill, the Port Authority's deputy chief, Bill Baroni, was absorbing withering criticism from Sen. Frank Lautenberg, the late New Jersey Democrat.

Chris Christie Bridgegate Scandal: New Jersey Governor Secretly Met With Feds On Fort Lee Lane Closures

Federal agents met in secret with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie last month as part of the so-called “Bridgegate” investigation looking into whether the governor orchestrated lane closures near the George Washington Bridge as political payback when a Democratic mayor refused to endorse his re-election campaign in 2013, ABC News reported Friday. The revelation of the meeting comes as Christie is battling allegations of improprieties concerning New Jersey’s pension system, his ties to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and further claims that he punished other elected officials who didn’t back his re-election.
