New Era Chicago (NEC) is an organization formed to bring back unity in our Black communities. Our focus is empowering and encouraging Black residents in the city of Chicago to buy, build, invest and get involved in the communites in which we live. One man, one woman, one child, one community at a time, until we are one united race.

One way we seek to get Black people involved in their communities is through our Streets is Watching Neighborhood patrol. The purpose of the Streets is watching campaign is to protect and provide a security presence throughout a predesignated area. Our purpose as a security team is to protect any and all children, women and elderly people throughout this community. We seek to act as a deterrent in the Austin and Engelwood communities.

We are not getting out here to fight crime and replace law enforcement agencies. However we will stop ANY injustice or harm from coming to any children, women or elderly in our view by acting as a postive deterrent. Our people are not our enemy.

We need the people's help to fund this program. We will need supplies such as fashlights, greenlights, batteries, water, and jersey vests for our volunteers.

We understand that everyone can not volunteer their time but, no donation is to small.
    All Power to the People.

I don't agree with Sis. Arianne's blanket statement about Chicano/Mexicans because it does nothing but pit us against each other and my experience is that many of them are suffering under the same type of oppression as Black people. We can't fall into the "divide and conquer" trap because we can certainly choose to fight the battle alone but I doubt that we can win it alone. Besides, as I view it, Mexicans were here (America) first along with other indigenous people long before the white man so called discovered it so "illegal" immigrants is a white man's concept that they've been successful at drawing lines in the sand to create borders and make laws to protect what they stole and brainwash Black into taking their sides. So what they get some government money. I think they should and are owed more.

Let's not forget about the rivalry they have against us with this shot across the bows:

L.A. Gang Waged War To Eliminate Black People

... A Latino street gang waged a racist campaign to eliminate black people from a Southern California city through attempted murders and other crimes, according to federal racketeering indictments unsealed Thursday.

Five indictments charged a total of 147 members and associates of the Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang, and federal and local agencies arrested 63 of them by early Thursday, U.S. Attorney Thomas P. O’Brien said at a news conference.

He called it ”the largest gang takedown in United States history” but did not elaborate ...

That may be true about what is happening among gangs in Southern Cal, but what I'm saying and believe is also true in other parts of the country and this opposite fact should not be overlooked. I refuse to think like white people want us to think and lump all Latinx in the same category as hating Black people. This wasn't true 40-50 years ago and it's not true today. . .

"Also, those who say Black Lives Matter excludes everybody else are choosing to ignore the nonblack people of color who support the movement. According to a June poll jointly conducted by Black Youth Project, the Associated Press and NORC at the University of Chicago, a majority of young Asian-Americans were already on board with Black Lives Matter before Sterling and Castile were killed. So were a majority young Latinos. That poll, called GenForward, found that 68 percent of Asian-Americans between 18 and 30 were supportive of the "Black Lives Matter" movement along with 53 percent of Latinos in that age range. Support among young black people was 85 percent."

A Chicago protest after the deaths of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling Progress Illinois Twitter

"As the nation reels from this week's police killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile and the shooting at a peaceful march in Dallas, the Black Lives Matter movement has seen growing support from Latinos and Asian-Americans, who say they’re victims of the same systemic problems. These communities have had a mixed record when it comes to supporting social justice for African-Americans.

“Within the Latino community, Black Lives Matter has to become an issue,” says Latino rights activist Daniel Leon-Davis, social media director for hip-hop producer Russell Simmons, who said this week marked a shift in the way he thinks about the ties between people fighting for Latino and immigrant rights and those marching for Black Lives. “If you are Latino and think that the best thing for you is to be silent when black lives are murdered, that’s a big mistake,” he told Univision News.

From education to violence to gentrification, activists cite similarities between the issues facing black and Latino communities in an increasingly polarized political climate. These commonalities have inspired more Hispanics to join the movement."

Rest assured that no one is overlooking the opposite fact you point out Sis. NNQueen, we know there are some good Mexicans, Hispanics, etc ... such as there are some good White folk. I just couldn't find the blanket statement in Arianne's words below about Chicano/Mexicans, which seemed to be aimed at a certain group of Mexicans, but not all:

"...NEC should only address the significant issues that are not only being ignored but not even being recognized or addressed by anybody like the poor Mexican/Chicanos who migrate illegally to America then the proverbial key to the city is handed to them on a silver platter with the preapproved public assistance package."

Without a doubt, the Black Lives Matter movement is multicultural, however, beyond California, Brown folk just don't get along well with Black folk, as painted to be good relations, across the board. For example:

    Hispanic Racism Goes Unreported
... But another kind of racism has emerged, unreported by the mainstream media. I’m talking about Hispanic racism against African Americans ...

TENSIONS MOUNTING BETWEEN BLACKS AND LATINOS NATIONWIDE
Around the country, evidence of a growing divide between blacks and Hispanics is mounting. It's a split few want to discuss.

One after another, the reports have rolled in. From Florida to California, Nevada to New Jersey, even as far away as the state of Washington, the news is getting harder to ignore: There's trouble brewing between blacks and browns ...

Blacks and Latinos in the U.S.: Still an Evolving Relationship
... When the questions are more pointed, greater evidence of distrust becomes apparent. The 2007 NAM survey asked respondents about their comfort levels doing business with members of other racial groups. Among Hispanics, 61 percent said they were more comfortable with whites and only 3 percent said they favored blacks. Among blacks, 47 percent said they were more comfortable with whites and 10 percent favored Latinos. Few blacks (6 percent) or Hispanics (4 percent) expressed a preference for doing business with Asians ...
