We are so resistant to it
Even when it's for the good
and we should be chomping at the bit
Looking for sameness
The ease of what's known
relishing the same old same old
an addiction that won't leave us alone
Those old comfortable shoes
ain't no more good with the sole gone
Like trying to use an old chess set
without the rook or the pawn
Still layin with your man, cause he sexes
ya good, but whops ya *** bad
Lovin the freak in that woman, cept when
she's freakin your friends too, now that's sad
Clinging to the same like your weaning
yourself off some drug, detoxification
takes some concentration
and a whole lot of determination
to deal with the endless frustration
of not wanting to alter
afraid we may falter
but in this instance
tis futile, this resistance
time to meet and greet
make amends
become friends
face to face
thoroughly embrace...
