Chaka Khan Enters Rehab for Prescription Drug Abuse and Prince's Death Spurred Her to Seek Help

Khan reportedly said she has been battling an addiction to the same medication that led to Prince's death and that his passing had spurred her decision to seek treatment. Prince died from an overdose of fentanyl, an opioid painkiller at age 57 at his Paisley Park studios in April.

A rep for the singer said Khan has struggled with prescription pain medication dependence and has "voluntarily entered" a treatment program "to get healthy and stay that way."

Is this addiction similar to nicotine or alcohol addiction?

What is the thing that attracts people to medicine like this?

Never thought that deep about it as I thought it was merely a way to suppress or alleviate pain, and that this was something that felt good, versus being addicted to medicine.

I know holistic practitioners could potentially resolve some of this ailments, but maybe it's a matter of choices.

Might have to look into what substances are in these, because I don't even take Tylenol.
Did look at the drug that Prince was supposedly taking...

Fentanyl acts upon specific receptors in your brain and spinal cord to decrease the feeling of pain and to reduce your emotional response to pain. The action of fentanyl is similar to other drugs in the morphine category.

Took too many Sudafed pills as young fella, and learned how trippy ordinary medicine could potentially be.

Again, we should all be cautious as to what we accept into our bodies, even in moments of weakness.

I can understand how easy it is to say "GIVE IT TO ME NOW!!" when a doctor says it will help with the pain, when you are in pain. Been there, and when in pain, you will do and take just about anything in hopes that the pain with stop.

Hope Chaka stays well and gets through any pain without any side effects from withdrawals.
