    Autumn in Central Park

    Spring has retired for today as the
    Trees allow the leaves to change
    The blanket of green into a brand
    New multicolored pastel painting;

    I like to look over the park when I
    Sit on the 56th floor peering through
    My aunt’s window at the sight of
    The candy coated arrival of fall;

    Wish I could open the window to
    Allow the breeze to dance with me
    But the sky’s too close and the wind
    Could sweep me into an eternal rest;

    This I wouldn’t mind if I could fall
    Into the blanket of rustic memories
    Painted along the center of the park
    Where love was etched in the trees;

    Rust colored maples alongside fully
    Green oaks playing with different
    Hues of brown complimenting each
    Other in nature’s melody of serenity;

    Two-toned trees meticulously planted
    In rows reminds me of the old feather
    Duster grandma used to remove the
    Timely accumulation from the furniture;

    Reds sitting with browns in shades that
    Only God could make to balance in a
    Design of perfection as the yellows greet
    The orange to the birthplace of the greens;

    I think I’ll take a walk through the park
    Before they come to rake away the mix
    Of colors that have fallen in a sonnet of
    Beauty laced with the sounds of peace;

    Re: It's the little pleasures

    And the smell
    of the trees with
    their falling leaves
    brings thought of
    new winter coats...:D
