    Hello Family,

In an effort to lift up that which has been held down way too long, i thought it would be good if we named the DARK BLACK PEOPLE that we know of. These people represent those of us who are most impacted by institutionalized racism. Please name those who are in the media, or well known to most.

    Will yall help?

One person that comes to my mind is Yaphet Kotto. He's an actor, that i remember first seeing in a Big Valley eposide. I fell in love with him immediately.

Another that comes to mind, is Judge Mablean Ephriam. Now, she's not as dark as Black folk come, but she's much darker than most other Sisters allowed on television these days. Unfortunately, we will only see her in re-runs, as i understand she lost her job on the show. She's been replaced by the lighter Judge Lynn Toler.

What other Dark Black People can we lift up in this thread? The darker the better!

Please include a link to a picture of them.

    Thanks! :)

BTW, how dark is dark? Brown and darker? I don't see many very-dark people around anymore, except my daughter.

Sister Spicy ... thanks for sharing. Just glancing over the list you've shared, i can't help but consider how many of those dark skinned Sisters and Brothers married white / other. That's a whole nuther can of worms, and i really aint trying to go there right now.

Yes Sister ... THE BLACKER / DARKER THE BETTER ... folk that would never be able to pass that brown paper bag test ... those are the Sisters and Brothers i'm hoping will be listed here.

    Cool thread.....

Whoa, Destee, darker than a brown paper bag would make a long list of AA's.......I thought you meant dark like anyone as dark as or darker than say.......Missy Elliott.

Anyhoo.....I'll include myself on that list, along with my daughter, since we are almost the last of the Mohicans:blush:

    *hugs self and daughter*

I said these people would not pass a brown paper bag test.

People that are known by most, in the media, such as that.

    Thanks.
