    Hello Family:

I would just like to know where Destee Famiy stands on this issue:

Which is more important to you - POLITICAL Empowerment or ECONOMIC Empowerment and why?

Both are equally as important since one can be used to attain the other. However, for our people, I would work on economic empowerment. I'm biased toward that area because of my limited experience.

    Neither.

We've been striving for both, since we were taught that we should. In the meantime, in all this time, we've achieved neither, simply because we haven't mastered the basics that serve as the prerequisites to gaining both of these things.

    PEACE

Economic Empowerment will gain us Political Empowerment. Those with the money call the shots....We will have neither until we revitalized the black family.

    Peace.....

At this point in my opinion economic empowerment is more important. Political empowerment depends too much on what white culture thinks.

The only time I think we should be more political is when our civil rights are at stake, and/or to address incidents of blatent racism out in the general public.

Until we get off this "black", "african american", afroamerican", "afrobrit", afrobrazillian", "afrika[n]" and get to the point where it's "Don't even go there! I am an African!", don't none of the other stuff matter! (Except insofar as it brings us to a "table" to talk about things! Gotta start somewhere!)

    Good observation.

Economic empowerment IS political in nature.

    Self empowerment trumps them both.
