Before coming to Destee.com I was a member of another online black site. What I find is that the same thing persist in these online forums.

    • Folks become angry when you have a difference of opinion
    • It seems that people feel uneasy having to go against the crowd
    • There are those who think they know it all and must have the last word on every subject.
People need to understand that they may NEVER meet any of the members here, so why should they be hesitant in expressing their views. I believe the way people respond here is the way they would respond in the real world and their true colours come out. You can tell the attitude of people by the contentious way they approach the threads.

Folks we all can agree to disagree without being disagreeable. I think that maturity is the key. Every one has an opinion and remember an OPINION is not a FACT.

Not sure about others here, but I have a life OTHER than on Destee. I work hard each day at my job plus I have a craft business, so when I come here my aim is not to be petty and contentious. I love it here and I believe we can be more civil.
I think a good thing would be to discuss some other topics which are not so divisive.

Well, we should be but then again we should expect this in the world. Albeit, "internet anonymity" is some folks' spinach so to speak.

I like your post and agree with it. But I have yet to see a thread (excluding the obvious ones that pertains to members and tragedy) that had everybody agreeing on it. No race is monolithic which means we are not all going to agree 100%. At some point, some one is going to have a strong disagreement, but that is where your option to agree to disagree comes into play to defuse it.

    Peace!

People have varying perspectives on certain subjects and discuss those... sometimes rather aggressively.

There will always be things which we agree with, but what is the worth of discussing that? What I usually do is gauge a common point we all could agree on so its out of the way and move on to the other discussion points.

what I find is that some rather debate the nonessential to the argument rather than the subject matter itself. Such as attack the person based on conceived notions rather than what the person posts on the subject.

But dont worry Dun... its a messageboard, as in life we are born into conflict and it will be here

Whatever the shortcomings of some (not all) who post on these forums, also one and all should be intelligent and wise enough to realize this:

We are the role models etc. for the younger generations...

I agree brutha Chuck...you and I both have seen the ones that try and force you thru names calling to see it that way. They also try and use shame by throwing out the usual buzz words, like sellout, ignorant negros, puppets, programed, etc.

    Peace!

    :toast:........Nice.

If I may add...in spite of the obvious difference in dishes, but even if they were the same, the first child didn't realize food among other things is subjective, and had no empirical evidence to support his claim.

    Peace!
