    I stopped flowing
    the day I gave birth
    for no other reason than
what my time seemed to be worth
with my little man under toe
its hard to sit and think
    i can't even remember
the last time paper was touched by ink

it had to be before he was born
    and things were all right
    and elation poured out
    onto the pages of
    my boss' dictation like
    "Hence, I forego any interruption. . .

. . . The eclipse hides all of me
only you inside my swollen abdomen
    casts a shadow slightly swaying
    from your soft movement."

And all day long it was like this,
me pouring out pages and pages
    writing about your upcoming arrival
and all of my feelings about being
your mother and you being my son.

and then, on the day you were born,
you loudly let your presence be known
    and exhaused my own
in between loving you and working
    and loving you and laundry
    and loving you and dishes
    and loving you and bottles
    (his and yours)
    and loving you and then
    loving you some more
    I forgot about loving myself
and the way poetry, written or read,
    loves you back.

Sure, I sat down to write
    but then nothing came out.
and then my job was restructured
(nice way of saying fired for no reason)
and now with the bills coming
and his looks when i say "i still
    haven't been offered anything
    at my last salary,
but, I had time to write a poem
    wanna hear?" imagine that reaction
    so, i stopped and now,
i don't know where to begin

This is a beautiful piece you dropped. And needless to say, the perfect place to start off your next poem with (as you say) ...
    "I forgot about loving myself"
thanks for the wonderful piece, glad you found time to write

this is so beautiful. not only does it show the need to love your child, but it also proves the old cliche to be true, "You must love yourself before you love anyone else"

"but, I had time to write a poem
    wanna hear?" imagine that reaction
    so, i stopped and now,
i don't know where to begin"

    you have already begun :)

Your mind has continued to flow poetry, you just haven't had the time to let that ink touch the paper, until now. A new baby takes so much out of you, and when you add in the general chaos of life, time slips away. Anyway, keep writing whenever you find the chance, I enjoyed this piece.

Such a pleasure to see your name...you have always been one of my favorite poets here at destee...so glad to enjoy your gifts..
congrats on the baby boy...such a blessing to have a child

Maybe time has changed your rhythm and your flow..
but not the creativity or your positive ego
so keep on washing and bottling and diapering
and as the spirit moves so will your flow...

always a pleasure to read your work

    Where do I begin...

    the footsteps of this piece
    walked the path of women
    who have dawned the ages
    of motherhood and selflessness

but trust...there is a work of art
    evolving through the experiences
and this is merely the beginning
of an evolution of poetic works

    I loved this particular stanza
    and this one...a different tone
but equally as strong as it created
the direct sense of being pulled
    in so many different directions...

Nice to read you again poet....
Poetry never has to be reclaimed...but merely "evoked"
    and you did just that
