This is the question I keep asking myself. I have lived a non Christian spiritual life. Such is reflected in my work, but it only operates in the back ground not the forefront. Can we as writers, stem the tide which is destroying our black communities with similar writing--art projects? Can we hone our craft so such writing and art is a viable entertaining alternative to so many of us who are drawn to the self destructive skull duggery which corporate America and even our undeveloped brethren purposefully feed us as adult/children--borderline gratuitous porn, death and hustlin' culture, and our children who are left to their own devices?

    Irrigating consciousness

    Heru Nefer!

I think it's possible to tranform a segment of our culture/milieu into a proverbial cocoon. It has been done before and when I think of it another axiom comes to mind but I can't remember the author: "Art is the sensitive nerve endings of society" ...I visualize the sphere above Nebt- Het or Het-Heru's head encircled by the cobra and how powerful the imaginative faculty is in transforming beings. My concern is what would initially make it AS provacative as the current engine that is sytematically invoking the foulest aspects of the lower nature. People are already predominately amenable to the likes/dislikes of this "lower nature" and when you add a pwerful media machine (CNS) it seems dismal.

My person would like to hear more of your EYE-deas. (P/S i am also checking your page as well.)

I am Khem kefaab MenNefer....pleasure to meet you

Thank you for the thoughtful reply, my brother. I don't have time now but will expound when Ra strikes the sky next...

Artistic talent is a gift from the One. I happen to think we are given such talent to serve and enlighten mankind.

Ayi Kwei Armah's "Two Thousand Seasons" is a great example of how it is possible for black authors to write fiction that both entertains and enlightens.

But, an artist whose goal is to enlighten has to make peace with the reality that he is unlikely to make a lot of money at his craft. The problem is that most people don't want to be enlightened. Most people are focused on getting paid and get laid -- which is why Eric Jerome Dickey [a good writer] sells so many more copies of his books that Ayi Kwei Armah [a great writer].

You can try The Matrix route, which made a lot of money. But, that Way requires mxiing in esoteric truths with the usual pandering to man's lower aspects [violence, lust, greed, envy, hate, etc.].

But,wait --- thinking out loud --- the Old Testament does pretty much the same thing --- lots of sex and violence mixed in with relevant spiritual teachings.

Mos Definitly. The key is not in the great writing as much as the ability to edify and inspire a following.

The great writing is actually a plus, but history and experience have shown me that the key is marketing, ppl will follow no matter how inspirational, destructive, smart or ignant the writing is. You want to over shadow the 'borderline gratuitous porn, death and hustlin' culture'...
    then out market them.

    Greetings Bro. Kamau_Atem,

The answer to your question is yes. It will happen. There's going to a novel coming in the next year or so which will open the path. The author is working on the book now with the help of the ancestors and dieties. It will draw the attention of the sisters first, and the the brothers will follow suit. Just be ready. When you see the signal you will know it.

I'm also moved to say to you, Sheps Tu Maat, Het Heru Tu Maat. Perhaps that has meaning to you.

    Peace,
    Belsidus

And obviously it has meaning for me. If it relates to me, my person is happy that you would take the time....

But I know that quite well. You will see the Shepsu and Hetheru which govern Annu Publishing all over Kamauatem.com. What you see here with my appearance at Destee is only part of a beginning.....You will note my post humbly introducing myself and therefore the ancestors....
