Brother $$RICH$$ I'll keep this brief.

Indeed true love comes from within, yet the love I speak of "Blak love" is a connection between a blakman and woman on a level just beneath God. Physical, mental, emotional, spiritual all these individiual levels combined create this and the synergy is wonderful. I thought I was there a couple of times and found I was not but I've seen brothers and sisters on this level. I have yet to find happier people. As you know ain't nothing like a "blak woman" not one who is black a "blak" woman who understands who she is and her existence in relation to the "blak" man.

    ya dig. blak

    Hi $$RICH$$

    True black Love...
When I read this thread black love I immediately reflected on a statue of a black man and woman intertwine. I see this statue symbolizing the black man enbracing his black woman in complete unity. I don't know if anyone is familiar with the statue I'm speaking of? However, I see black love like that. A black man and black woman so in tune with their blackness, who they are,(individually) where they came from(ancestrally)where they are going(united). Possession of those qualities is the true essence of black love that'll continue to thrive. Do they/it exist? That's another thread.
I know this strays from the thread, but connects indirectly, so I feel the need to mention it. I believe that is why a white man/woman can never truly sympathize with a black man/woman(relationship/marriage) when they come home to share their pain from the cruel conditions society spits out at them in their lives daily. Black men/women deep down knowing that the one they love is indirectly apart of that same society which afflicts mental and sometimes physical suffering apond them and their people, probably never fully open up that side of themselves. I feel the black man/woman need to expell those cancerous emotions and it'll benefit them most, if its to someone who can truly sympathize with them.
    This is a good thread.

    MadLove:heart: Coco

what is true black love to me.........

First, I would have to say true love is rare,
there is many renditons, many definitions and
many interpretations. What true black love means
to me..is first loving your blackness, loving your
heritage and having pride in your heritage and
respecting your heritage, once you experience this love of yourself. You transfer all those feelings into your black partner and vise versa.
But true love is......loving someone unconditionally,
loving what they feed your mind, heart and soul. How they enhance your life, with their presence. How you feel in your heart when you look at them, make love to them, touch them. Love is becoming the spirit of that person, yet maintaining your own spirit. True love is eternal
because it is the mutual meeting of the heart, mind and soul....without greed, envy, deliberate pain, selfishness.
love is the ability to give of yourself without malice or regret.....support without vindictiveness....I wonder how many people can say that they have all these things with the people whom they claim to love? Seems a little impossible, because these are basic human emotions, but thats where mutual understanding and communication comes into play.... You are a fortunate person to find.........TRUE LOVE!

I think as African American men and women, there are a few of these qualities that we can work on in our relationship...but I am a firm believer in mutual respect and I think that is the foundation.....for a male/female relationship to work we have to recognize our roles....Men:
can step to the plate and be a bit more responsible in leading their family and children.....Woman: we can let the man be the head of the household as he should, supporting him...because we are their strength.

you know i avoid some of these topics because normally what others write i disagree with. well some things here i do agree with. Black love is a love centered on God with the man being the head and the womanwalking with him. It is clear that positioning is central because the emotions come from the central part of life..our hearts. If a man is not the head of his home then he cannot love a woman the best way. He should not eb led but lead and more important the man should understand that his source of strength is not his mate but God. Both sides should know that if the other is not in relationship with God then they cannot be in relationship with each other. True black love? Knowing your heritage, loving with conditions and acce[pting your mate for who they are and not alwyas thinking you are better than them or they cannot live without you. Relationships are a choice and when one choose to be with you know they can choose to be without you also. If both sides stay level headed, ahve a strong faith system and know who they are in the relationship then true love whether black or otherwise, will be strong and eternal. It takes work, faith and understanding. Respect adn acceptance is key. Honor and cherish of each other is beautiful. hese are all the conditions that make up a love.

I disagree wiht one statement i read. While women are strong, they are not a man's strength. that places the man in a position to take his eye off of God and look to another person as his source. That cannot be. Black woman are storng but to think that a man is strengthened by a woman is a little shallow. A woman is his help-meet in other words she completes what was left incomplete, but it is not his strength. The man must be strong in order to be with a strong black woman because a strong black woman don't want no weak man. BALANCE and equality is key but understand the strenght of a woman is one who can be led by a man of God. Understand this: A STONG BLACK WOMAN IS ONE WHO CAN BE LED BY A DEEPLY ROOTED BLACK MAN. This means for woman to step back and allow the man to do what he is created to do. Be the provider as the woman is the nurturer.

I have more but i just wanted to get this off my chest...

Let's stop changing the roles and accept your position. Keeping your eye on God and not a person prevents the problem of worshipping a person over GOD which will be a quick demise of a possible good relationship.

Be careful with your words because "thou shall have no other God before me..."
