Absent woman, transparent woman,
absorbed under the scrutiny of watching eyes,
trying their bests to categorize
scheme and demean
just cause she seems
a bit too independent….

Yoruba woman, daughter of the Amazon,
beauty and wisdom passed down
since the creation of Eve,
mother of ancient understanding,
supreme bearer of life,
she flourishes like great waters,
cooling the thirsts of masses,
she should stand
a paragon,
demanding praise from all who
view her….

yet she’s raided,
often times degraded,
taken for granted
when I’m simply asking
for once, fellas,
can’t we open our eyes
erase the prejudgments
and realize
that she
is the matriarch of joy in our lives
can the lady just be…
loved…
cherished…
appreciated…
pleased…
happy…
can’t the lady just be?
