Call me um
For in my misconceptions
Self practiced meditations
Meaning selfishly I run from
What I am yet to understand
The woman I am
The one God created me to be
I seek worldly gains
Never enough obtained
Life gift is breath inside of me
But I greedily seek to see
How I can just get paid
So I lay in my own grave
I made this
My roots run deep in untoiled
Soil buried my spirit deep
It gathers rootseed
I threw them to the first wind
A cool breeze that tells me something sounding good
My outstretched hands
Reaches out and catches somebody's son
Pretending he a grown up
Playa man stop playing games with yourself
Intellectualized masturbation
Ain't good for your health
Fallen inside the cracks and diseased flatbacks
Of this world
Who pushed you out here unprepared
It wasn't me
But you point blame
It's a shame I feel sorry for you
Without feeling sorrowful for my **** self
Call me um....
For my wealth
Was in my stride
My stealth was in my step pride
Now become undone
You who ridicule
Who I am
The man I love
Ain't
Won't
Can't
Come home to me
Baby please
formulates
The distant state
Of how far our love has me back
Behind enemy minds
For this unconnectedness is too familiar
From the flows of our economic woes
I make
You take
We both spend on shiny things
Keep on bringing us down
Keep on keeping the clown
As your favorite circus act
When in fact
Brother on brother crime
Crosses all color lines
Redefines
Who is playing a perfect game
Who wins
Not you
Nor me
Too colorblind to see
Your name
Contains man
But your hues are confused
Just call me um...
It's a shame
You call me love
Sex is what you based that of
Tried to prove you wrong
Took too long of my years
Tears are the heaviest to carry
While denying my spirit bliss
How did we get to this?
Call me um...
Sister
I wonder have youever looked at me
Loved what you see
Not only in who we are
But by far what we share
They say none compares
Call me um..
For I have silenced the drum
Blocked out the son
He don't even rise today
A full figured moon lit sky
A mother earth freedom cry of the ancestors
Still singing praise to Father God
Knight falls
Queen check mates
King me please
Checkers prey
On black and red squares
Nobody winning
Everybody pretending they are
The brightest star
Was created to be original
Son
Treasured jewels
Nobody knopws where they come from
Few understand
Who I am
Who I want to be
I, myself, have forgotten whom I come from
Call me um...
Or call me Black
Please...
Call me Black.
