Waking up in a dimly lit room, I could feel my head throbbing as though someone was taking a hammer to it. I slowly began to sit up on the bed I laid in, but just before then, I noticed how fresh the sheets smelled, as though someone had just washed them a few hours earlier.

A singular lamp on a nightstand barely made anything in the room visible, but I saw just enough through my hazy vision to see two others laying on beds in this small room with me. Who were they? How did I get here? I couldn't remember, but I was ready to find out.

"Oh, my God!" I thought, waking to find myself lying in an unfamiliar bed in an unfamiliar room. "Where am I?" I lay on the bed, motionless, only my eyes moving, sweeping across the darkness until I saw the woman. She carried.... No, she was wielding a lamp with a big metal base in a 2-fisted grasp.... and she was coming toward me.

As I moved closer to one of the others in the room, lamp firmly gripped in both my hands, and looking to see if this person was even conscious, I noticed by its light there was yet another bed with someone else upon it.

"How many people are in here?" I began to wonder with a puzzled look. And just as soon as I looked again at the one I initially moved toward, they had lunged from their bed at me, and we began a struggle.

Off-STORY: Are we supposed to be writing like this - you taking on the role of one character and I, another? If not, let me know and I'll try to gloam in on your character (since you're the "originator" :)).

    If not.... continuing:

"You're not going to get me, Angel of Death!" I grunted as I grabbed the hands holding the lamp, tussling with her for its possession. When the woman yelled, "What!???" I saw my chance. Holding tightly to the stem of the lamp, I quickly twisted my body, down and around, flipping her bodily onto the bed and tearing the lamp from her hands.

"Aha!" I yelled triumphantly, pouncing upon her. "I gotcha! Now give me the gold!"

"Wha...." The Angel of Death looked stunned up at me, straddling her body, one hand on her throat, the other swinging the heavy-based lamp threateningly above my head. Her eyes gleaming like a deer's caught in headlights, she tore the hand from around her neck, twisted her head and yelled, "Help!"

"Mmm.." I shifted tiredly in my bed, running my hand along the sheets in search of him, but he was not there. Odd. Something's different. These aren't even my sheets..!! I opened my weary eyes to find myself in a dingy room. What..? My eyes and ears soon adjusted to the dark and I saw two women engaged in a tussle for a lamp. This alerted me, prompting me to spring to my feet on the bed. "What's going on?!" I squealed, throwing my hands over my face in horror. "Stop it! What are you doing!?!?!" Their struggle ended abruptly and both women turning to me. "Is this some sort of sick joke?!" I sobbed.

Thankful that the yell of another in the room with me and the one I struggled with ceased her death grip upon me, I lifted myself up from upon the bed, and she backed up as she lowered the lamp she once held as a sure weapon to do me harm.

I coughed, still feeling a sting in my throat from how hard she squeezed at my windpipe.

"Who are you two?" I asked.

I started at the imperative in the voice of the pale-gowned figure in the bed beside the sole window of the cabin, incoming moonlight causing her to appear ghostly. "Oh, ho, ho, ho," I thought, throwing the Angel of Death from me... who ran to the door of the cabin. It was locked. Her tangled and sleep-tossled weave flopping across her shoulders and whipping around her face as she threw terrified glances over her shoulder at me, her NEMESIS, she beat frantically on the timbers. But she was of no consequence, I knew, squinting through bleary, sleep-encrusted eyes at the apparition in the corner, throwing up what looked like gang signs with her hands.... imprecations to who.... SATAN?

Forget the gold.... The Angel of Death was going nowhere anyways.... I thought. No. I didn't think. I acted! I threw the lamp at the head of the apparition. She ducked. Screamed out for the Dark Prince to save her. HA! I ain't skeered o' no monkey-tailed RED man! And I was determined to get my gold!

I ran on winged feet across the hard, planked floors and grabbed the apparition. Flung her around like her master's rag doll. The Angel of Death screamed when she fell to the floor, drooling, expelling body waste onto her pristine white gown and in a heap.

The Angel of Death ran to her minion's side (or Satan's, but a minion, I was sure). "What have you done?!" she cried, looking up at me, horrified.

Engulfed in my own private fog and staring bleary-eyed at the woman's brown-stained gown, I said, wondrously: "I think I just beat the sh*t out of a ghost."

I ran to the nearest corner in the now suddenly darkened room as stinging sweat pours like rain down my awe stricken face, "What just happened? Is this all a dream? Somebody please wake me from this nightmare." Those were just a few of the many racing thoughts that now permeated by fog filled brain. This mental fog and confusion was getting much heavier now, but was any of this real or it all imagined.? I'm all too tired, worn, and confused to know the difference; everything seemed to happen so quickly and end even quicker.

As I looked on toward the one crying, and suddenly but scarcely noticing someone toward a corner of the small room, I saw that no one else was there but us three. What had happened? Did I really get into a struggle or was this some trick of the mind brought on by fear of not knowing where I was?

The pain in my neck from what seem to be me choking felt all too real, but I wasn't sure anymore if it was. Wherever this room was, for whatever reason I was here, I wanted to get out fast. But leaving the other two didn't feel like the best bet. So I, again, tried for introductions.

"My name's ... Angela." I hesitated. "Do you two have names? Or am I imagining you, too?"

Not a sound was made. Not one response was uttered as I sat there listening to the sounds of my own erratic breathing as I felt my mind moving speedily towards a major panic attack. "Can you hear me?", I screamed frantically at the top of my lungs. My throat is scratchy and parched, as well as my thoughts. "ANSWER ME" I yelled. But, it was beginning to seem my screams were silent. I laid down against the floor just to feel the cool pavement against my flesh, I was hot and flushed and this was, if but for a moment, a much needed escape from this insanity.
