Bush turns down invitation by BET; head of network calls him a hypocrite

WASHINGTON (AP) - The head of Black Entertainment Television says President Bush is being hypocritical and is making the wrong decision in turning down a chance to appear on the cable channel.

Robert Johnson runs B-E-T. He says the White House told his network, "We'll talk to you after the election."

Johnson calls that the wrong answer. He says it raises questions about whether the Bush administration takes black voters seriously, or if Bush's pledge to reach out to minorities is just "lip service."

Johnson says he's written to some top minority officials in the Bush administration, including Secretary of State Powell, asking them to help the president reconsider. Johnson says if Bush doesn't talk to minorities he's taken a step toward ensuring that most blacks keep voting Democratic.

This is actually good. Now all we (black folks) need to do is make sure we go to the polls so we can get rid of this guy.

Like I said Republicans feel they don't need our vote but they use us in their campaign strategy. When they talk of cutting government spending or how liberals want to raise taxes for more frivelous spending they talking about money the goverment spends on programs that help us. This is a tactic to keep the playing field uneven and a hidden way of telling white folks that if they vote Republican we will keep those Negroes in there place.

    Peace

Neither one impresses me so there's no love lost over this as far as I'm concerned and it certainly doesn't sway my opinion on election day!
