a little something inspired by the talented mind of Brother Phenomenon who was very gracious in soliciting my aid. I do hope you all enjoy this. Phenom is the lead and in bold un-italicized font and AgAbus is in red italicized font.
There's so much hatred in the world
Between those who have so much in common
For instance, we have so much in common
Becoming men
Dark skinned, brown skinned, light skinned revolutions
Freedom, institutions, african, american
Mothers, no fathers
Marry mothers, to become fathers
Have daughters, to become queens
And teach sons, to become dreams
Poverty, persecution, 400 years, execution
Different story, same history
All the glory, to His victory
i, we, they-them-and-us
sow roots that are entrenched,
roots that will
yield fruits; fruits that give
flavors filling the mouths of our destinies
with HIS distinct, defining deliciousness.
i, we, they-them-and-us
see…see the birth of
men in diff’rent
hues of blackness
all standing; mouths opened
wide, wider, widest
piercing…
…the air ripples with
their twilit sound.
we…we be men-hoarding our
inner predilections
beneath bended
bushels of
glossed over pages
frm outdated publications that depict
our honesty;
diff’rent stories of our history.
See
We have so much in common like
Pain and healing
Drinking from
Precious fountains,
Free to all,
A healing stream,
Flows from calvary's moutain,
That's what our elders used to sing
As Jesus keeps us near the cross
We laid on His chest
As He bled our mistakes to death
hearing
echoes of the pitter-patter
of our feet carrying
Golgotha in
our blood streams…
hearing
the dissonant beauty
of parallel
commonality…
u run
parallel to my experiences and
i jog next to yours-we
drench ourselves
in time’s waters-tasting the
vestiges of eternity,
feeling intense
completion emanating from the
throne room
where we stand…unit…
where we are one.
See
We have so much in common
But we act differently
Than how black men act toward each other today
I could kill you
You could spill my blood too
But I'd rather spit poetry with you
I could turn my back on you
You could leave me dying
I could smile in your face
While you suffered crying
But I'd rather share my faith with you
We could fight over women
Murder over money
Abandon our children
And die over nothing
But I'd rather make a difference with you
…too much in common we have.
how could peace abound, lest
two walk as one?
please put aside playing Cain to my
Abel, my Jacob to your Esau…
why split hairs or
the links of a chain? why
deplete unity
when we could stand
as one?
I could call you my n***a
You could call me motherf***a
But we're so much higher than that
So I rather call you my brother
I could hate you
But loving you is so much easier since we're
Two blessings from a mother
Two soldiers in life
Two brothers in christ with
Same spiritual bloodlines
Same historical timelines
One heart, one mind
Made by one Father, G-O-D
And together, we can move mountains
With a mission we have in common
Which is spreading the truth...Amen
sonku
unified…
black brother
stay KNIT to
my thigh!
we’re duet,
righteous ones!
Amen…
Amen, AND
Amen!
