Just an idle thought...but I was wondering why so many of our members neglect to indicate whether or not they are male or female in their profiles? Although it may not be a big deal compared to the larger issues we discuss here, sometimes I am unsure how to address a person when I reply to a posting, especially if I go to look at their profile and can't tell if they are a sister or brother. This no doubt will cause needless embarrassment as it has for me already by leaving open the possibility of addressing someone in the wrong manner not knowing if they are a sister or brother. Surely a person shouldn't have a reason to not reveal whether or not they are male or female, or perhaps they do have a compelling reason to keep that a secret? I can see some folk wanting to keep thier ages a secret or other personal information such as emails etc., but knowing whether or not you are a sister or brother ahead of time would clear up any confusions and save needless moments of waiting to find out if you addressed someone wrong...again. Anyone care to share thier thoughts on this?

I also think it's a good idea to specify what gender you are. I'm a female and even though it's posted on my profile people still neglected for a while to see that.

    my poem reads:
I am not a young GIRL
nor do i wish to be
i am not a young GIRL
    except inside...you see?
    I am not that old
    i hope/am sure you know
I do b elieve that as you age you grow
I have live this long and made it to
    this place
    black WOMAN I
    struggling to be brave
    black WOMAN I
    sometimes a GIRL
    afraid
    but not a young GIRL
nor do i wish to be
    i am a WOMAN
    healthy , shaped and ready!

***i think that makes it clear ...  :yo:

    Hehehe...
thanks to everyone who took the time to comment on this!.

The majority of you guys I have never had a mystery with concerning your persuasion since a lot of times your names, styles of writing or post subject matter helps to clear the fog while I read. And once you know someone it's a moot point then...But until one knows another person, there are several who do write in a somewhat ambiguous style and it is hard to get a feel for the gender of the writer.

Sure would be nice if that was info that was public, like perhaps a tiny male or female "icon" next to the user name when they post? Is that something that is possible in the future, Destee?

p.s....sorry I haven't been able to post much, been extremely bizzy with art, will make more time here soon!! Until then, Happy Monday!!
