    Hotep Br. Clyde:

    Just a couple of questions:

I looked up what "sankofa" means...

The concept of SANKOFA is derived from King Adinkera of the Akan people of West Afrika. SANKOFA is expressed in the Akan language as "se wo were fi na wosan kofa a yenki."

Literally translated it means "it is not taboo to go back and fetch what you forgot".

"Sankofa" teaches us that we must go back to our roots in order to move forward. That is, we should reach back and gather the best of what our past has to teach us, so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward. Whatever we have lost, forgotten, forgone or been stripped of, can be reclaimed, revived, preserved and perpetuated.

Visually and symbolically "Sankofa" is expressed as a mythic bird that flies forward while looking backward with an egg (symbolizing the future) in its mouth.

Could you discuss here for me how you view the above?

And the symbolism associated with the sankofa bird?

With a christian perception.. as my family mortal.. is half born again and half catholic.. lol...

The bird looking back reminds me of the wife that looked back and turned to stone....

You interest me because your an open type of person...

Perhaps a little history on the Akan people ...

This is an invitation for exchange because I have not studied much about West Africa ...

    Please advise.

    Much love and respect.

Brother I'm lookin at these words

    and they cause me concern...

    Perpetratus... origin latin.. to perpetrate

    perpetuus.... unbroken....

    unbroken perpetration?

    with regard to symbolism

    a bird carryin an egg?

Is this not just a seed?

    dogs fetch.... bones

perpetratus is past participle of perpatrate...

    no future in frontin...

    is my interpretation...

if u can correct me then i will stand corrected.

In the Spirit of Sankofa and the Truth!

    Miss Lady,

    Miss Lady
, you are an adorable gem, you always have been and always will be, in my mind and in my view. Thank you for the beautiful comments, for real sister. I also know that you are seeking and have found all the love possible in KRS One, I will not try and compete with that brother, lol, as I also hold him in very high esteem.

To your questions concerning Sankofa, you have explained it all my sister, I can only add the link below in support of what you know, already. On the topic of West Africa, in our midst here at Destee.com, we have bro. Blackbird, whom I consider an expert on the subject, if you will, I would much rather you consult Blackbird and the many threads that go much further into West Africa, if you truly wish to learn. So, unless I missed something bring it back to me, k:

On these new issues you are raising, my retorts are in (parenthesis) in blue:

This is an invitation for exchange because I have not studied much about West Africa ...
(Again, I refer you to bro. Blackbird, serious dialogue is at play, for real)

The bird looking back reminds me of the wife that looked back and turned to stone....
(Not a good contextual reminder Miss Lady)

    a bird carryin an egg?
Is this not just a seed?

    (Exactly Miss Lady)

    Perpetratus... origin latin.. to perpetrate
    perpetuus.... unbroken....
    unbroken perpetration?
    with regard to symbolism
perpetratus is past participle of perpatrate...
    no future in frontin...
    is my interpretation...

(I don’t understand any of the above Miss Lady, in order for me to make a reply. Break it down, k)

    dogs fetch.... bones
    (True dat Miss Lady)

if u can correct me then i will stand corrected.
(Miss Lady, it is not my job to correct you) (If you will listen, I caution those seeking knowledge to pause, contemplate and meditate after taking in so much …to prevent overload and overkill).

    Peace In...Hotep!

And if I may Brother Clyde

The reason why it's so easy for me to ac-knowledge that fact that i am head over heals in love with Kris is very simple..

It's easy for me to KNOW that the black man.. coming from homelessness ... right from the hood.. where our people are in bondage... is the essence of my reflection...

from his nappy hair.. to his nose which descended from a king.. to the ancient sound of his harmoneous voice... to his manly sub-servience to the goddess...

a black man that knows his greatness and exhibits it with no fear...

    i bow to that

    i love myself
