Black Relationships : Breakups and Revenge

The only reason to get revenge is if they stole something from you. Other than that,...…

.
Some people who are in monogamous relationships believe they "own" their partner/spouse. So, given your position, Keme, if someone caught their partner/spouse "cheating," would it be ok if the person who is hurt exacted revenge on the individual who they think "stole" their partner from them?

I get your point. But that's not what I mean

Ha ha ha OMG. You two are very entertaining. This is not my usual tongue in cheek humor either. You two should have your own "Interpersonal Relationship" Destee blog. The problem with the marriage license law is it gives some individuals the illusion of some manner of ownership and control of a spouse. The sole reason why some men refuse to not only marry but not even risk a serious relationship including overnight visits is commitment. This is not the typical pantyhose hanging on the bathroom shower rod. This is the loss of freedom to do as one wishes without having to think twice or worst the fear of having to answer to a person who didn't raise you like mom or dad. In reality an equal partnership albeit business or interpersonal is successful in theory in Non-American cultures but an exercise in futility in our world. Can't have two bosses under the same roof. I don't have to rely on skewed statistical analysis, polls of anything else in writing but in my real world observation of friends, family and business associates. Seriously guy and girl. Start a blog. You both possess the knowledge, experience and personalities for it.

Aha...but it's okay for a man to tell a woman how to spend money she earns cause from my memory, there were no Black "Ozzie & Harriets" in my neighborhood, Black women had to work to help sustain a family. And as for sex in marriage, if a woman isn't in the mood, the some husbands cop an attitude, sometimes making him feel justified in stepping outside the marriage to scratch his itch. Non-committed sex, as you call it, has always been around--some men got it for "free" and some he paid for it. Either way you look at it, what value does that add to a community that can only grow positively when people come together in healthy ways? In my opinion, this point of view is a copout to cover up some men's insecurities. Black men should be on the forefront of the liberation of their women and see the benefits they and the Black family reaps when Black women take advantage of greater opportunities available to them, instead of them feeling castrated. And what does it say about the man who just wants to dip his stick in anybody's oil tank? High divorce rates and greater numbers of single mothers? Again, you blame Black women for Mookie. Black men must see the role they play in his creation and participation in our communities.
