Breaking Free… Speaking
By: Afroprincess

I walk alone
Staring through people like stone
Stomping out the life I once lived
Taking back the things I used to give
You made me laugh… and cry
Now I’m wishing these feelings would just die

I walk around with my head held down
Not hearing any kind of sound
When the trouble began I was sure we’d make it through
But the truth is you stayed you while my mind grew

I began to wonder and ask questions
And you…you decided to hurt me in order to teach a lesson
Growth of the mind
Stifled and left behind

Crimes committed against myself
Hopes and Dreams sat gathering dust on the shelf
I never spoke out, never screamed my peace
Instead I took the hurt and used it internally
Determined to make my mind decease

Lips move with no words
Wounds from your words left gaping
Gasp for air
Give us some proof your still here

Speak.
Speak your peace!
Scream!!
Tear away the seams that wouldn’t allow your voice to leave!
You control you
Words spoken have never been more true

Love should be cherished with devotion
Speak ladies speak
For your words are the only way to set a change in motion
So speak my sisters speak

***This poem was written for my sisters who have it so hard in relationships. I see so many girls at my job that just let people walk all over them; people meaning family, friends, and significant others. It hurts my heart to see them lose respect for themselves and develop negative opinions of people. It's almost like for some of my girls I see their hearts hardening and the trust just disappearing. Mmm, anyway I hope you all like it.***

Have we not mirrors in our home ?
stop at it and look in, next time you're alone
Take a real good look..then take this to heart,
From that image in the mirror, you'll never part.
If you don't love "YOU"
no one else will...
that seems to be a bitter pill.
Take time for YourSelf...and Meditate
bring in the ship, before it's too late
