now there's some "truth in advertising"!! to me that is much more than "haunting"; that's a true indictment!

a lady friend was telling me about a young African woman she befriended once. the girl had been given a going away gift by her father; a bag of diamonds. when she got here, she discovered that her father had been getting ripped off for a long time because the prices he was being paid for his diamonds was so very, VERY much lower than the prices that retail stores were getting for them! <sigh> last time my friend heard from this young lady, she had gotten strung out and saddled with a bunch of kids; the diamonds and the man were long gone!

i guess these were the images i was seeing wrt "africaopenforbusiness", before i went to the site.

    The Diamond Life

only watch this video (in broadband or dial-up format) if you can stomach seeing first hand the atrocities being committed against Afrikans...also notice the fleeting and brief allusion to debeers and the other whiteys who provide guns to 'rebel groups' to bypass the gov't and get 'conflict diamonds' on the low-low.

Mass murders in Sierra Leone over the past decade has been over diamonds. One of my favor college professors, was from Sierra Leone, and he used to tell us the horrors happening over there. His inability to contact certain family members, not knowing whether or not they were alive or dead. All over a struggle to secure diamonds. This is something black folk need to consider when flaunting those 4 & 5 carrots!

Brother, great stuff!! Whew, will we forever be pawns in the game??? Well, I guess we will as long as we fail to get some understanding of the larger picture...

What is interesting is that it is not just about high-end items like diamonds where AFricans are being made to suffer... It is simple, everyday delicacies like Chocolate, where African children are enslaved to harvest the pre-processed confection...

Now, we all eat some chocolate at some time during the year, because it is simply the sweet thang of choice in world... I cannot help thinking how we contribute to the terrible things that happen to African children because of our indulgences...

    Peace!
    Isaiah
