    Bleak and Bliss

On the slope of a hilltop,
    a steep mountain did drop
down to the rapids of a river named Syn.

    Panic in the rain's roar
    plunged on its slanted floor.
Bleak, on a horse of bones, galloped down the wind.

Behind, Greed and Envy rode their palomino steeds
with Wrath next to Lust, and Chaos in the night.
To a town called Choice raced Bleak and his marauders
'cross a moon, where horses shine skinless in the light.

    Daylight would be coming soon,
    sizzling hot the sand dunes.
Faith, Hope and Charity waited dawn's light to kiss.

Their horses neighed a cry !
Love and Justice looked to sky.
On the rays thrown from Sun like a fist galloped Bliss.

On streaks of sultry sizzling sand, his horse Sunlight burned red.
Bliss waved a hand and beckoned with a blast of booming voice.
Off the sand dune they did heed, self-propelled by hoofs of speed
catching Sunlight's blistered-blaze now inbound and aimed for Choice.

    And flickering 'cross horizon stars
betwixt the moonlight's beams and bars,
Bleak and Bliss rode prairies 'til they reached a half-mile gap.

Seeing Choice ahead, they tightened reins
to jump that impasse half-mile gain,
and fearless leaped the chasm, hoofs in air, landing pat.

Our human halves of Bleak and Bliss
are flaws and strengths we would commit
to reach a Choice that we need make
requires always some Leap of Faith!

First of all, I must comment on your word choice that makes the images come alive...wow. The outcome of our choices aren't always like crystal, what lies ahead may be quite murky. When that leap of faith does pay off, such joy lies ahead. Wonderful write.

the depth of this piece was a guide of light from the many choices we make in life
often when they are bad the galloping glup comes hard and heavy but when we
make them right the joy of goodness by faith shines i enjoyed this flow !!!

Waz – The leap requires fearlessness. Without it, progress comes to a halt. More often than not, it’s not the Choice that’s so hard but the leap that makes that choice real. So very glad the images came alive with impact for you Waz. Thanks for your perceptive words. Namyh

Rich – Maybe Fate sets it up for us to make bad choices as well so we can also understand how to make the good ones. After all, you can never define a straight line until you also know what a crooked one is. We often rely on these opposites to make sense of things and also that galloping glup. If this is a “guide of light”, as you say, you got me feelin’ good that I was there to flame the candle with my Bic lighter. Thanks Rich. Namyh

Daroc – There is always the Bleak but I hear your Bliss and I thank you for it. Stop in anytime and re-ride the journey of this metaphor express with a round trip ticket. Rock on Daroc. Namyh

    Such an enchanting read!

Brings to mind how all things are connected.
How what is said to be evil can also produced
good. And what is said to be good can also produced
evil. You never truly know what outcome you'll get.
Faith is nothing less than a leap into choice, with the hopes that all will turn out great.

    MASTERPIECE!:great:
