Check out my new site: www.BlackGamer.net

Black Gamer is an entertainment website that documents Black contributions to the gaming industry and covers the portrayal of Black characters in gaming. It also has a forum, chat, blogs, gallery and the only online flash arcade featuring Black characters.

I have been a member of several videogame sites since 2001. Ten years later I've decided to create my own videogame site due to all the prejudice and racism I've experienced on those sites. It's odd being a fan of something you love then have fellow fans treat you different because of your race.

Black Gamer is open to all races but the articles will focus on Blacks because other gaming sites mostly bury Black contributions to the gaming industry as a small footnote in history. This is similar to the treatment Black inventors have undergone throughout the ages.

With Black Gamer I can bring awareness to Blacks contributions to the videogame industry and write articles about the Black experience in the realm of gaming, a voice that is rarely heard but must be heard especially due to the rise of Black main characters in gaming. The site also covers the representation and portrayal of Black videogame characters and keeps you up-to-date on upcoming videogames with Blacks characters.

It is not strictly a Black gaming site but other facets of gaming are covered such as reviews and previews of some of the hottest games and member spotlights of Black site members and their experience with gaming.

I'm new to creating a website that caters mostly to a single demographic but with time, research of my own and the help of friends I hope to create a viable website that can compete on some kind of level with other videogame sites. If you know any Brothas and Sistas that are interested in videogames please point em my way so they can help this site, unique in all of the web, grow.

Thanks dude. Perusing destee.com's threads has made me realize I need to step my game up though. The main problem that I've encountered with the creation of BlackGamer is some Blacks in real life that I know tell me a site like this is racist.

BUT when I tell them about Black contributions to gaming and name people they didn't know was Black or what they did for gaming they usually stop yapping about how racist it is.

That's one problem, the other is that most brothas I know look down upon gaming and those that do play usually play sports games and call of duty etc. They don't really branch out like they should. They kind of just follow what the next brotha's doing. Buy Madden. Year after year smh.

That's a great find, given Black people spend quite a lot of money in video games.

Brother Dre Money ... your gaming site is the first i've seen / heard of, made especially to provide a place for Black People interested in such. While it's my first, that certainly doesn't mean there's never been one, or there's not another out there now. Even no matter, you're now throwing your hat in the mix, and that can't be anything but a good thing, offering more choices to our people!

Brother Shikamaru said it ... do what you gotta do ... what you wanna do ... what moves your heart!

There will always be those to discourage you! It doesn't matter what you're doing, how great you're doing it, someone will be there to let you know how little they think of your effort / work! You have to learn early to shake them off, if you really want to see how far your dream can take you.

destee.com is 14 years old now, and i've been called all kinds of names, talked about worse than any behavior in my life warranted, had to fight both men and women, and yes ... unfortunately ... most all of it coming from other Black People ... the very ones you're seeking to cater to!

Talk about a challenging situation! I don't think there is a greater one, so brace yourself! :)

The only thing that can keep you moving forward is that you love what you're doing and believe in your heart it is good and right ... at least, that's what kept me going when presented with some of the trials and tribulations i've faced.

I'm proud of you for taking that step, from talking to actually doing, and i'm sure others are as well.

    I'm not a gamer ... but i can be ...

If there's anything I can do to help or encourage your work, let me know.

    Much Much Love and Peace.

Ohhh Family ... let's all go over and register, support, etc. ... http://blackgamer.net

    I've already registered, and i don't even own a game! :)

We should be willing to help each when and where we can, especially when it costs us virtually nothing.

It's so hard for anything Black to survive ... so ... let's all support Brother Dre Money! :toast:

    Love You!

Thanks! I'm still working on it.
Word up! I used to spend a lotta money on videogames when I was younger. I'm growing out of gaming tho.
